It certainly has been a steep learning curve and will get steeper as the spring progresses, I'm sure. It's great to be learning something new and so interesting.

I think I've bought enough seeds for the next four years or so, so that's not a worry! image

Hello , o/h tends to do seeds , we use ordinary compost bur sieve it first to get it finer , then mix with perlite 50/50 , this year going to sprinkle vermiculite on , results are usually very good , saying that might tempt fate !image

  • Zoomer44 I spotted the sweet peas at B&Q they looked really good, I seem to be seeing ? and not your money bits, I some times sow sweet peas earlier in Feb bit later this time

Aster2 Same here with certain seeds have loads of them prob too many - just remember is you have parsnips the seeds only last one year,   I spotted the heated propagator in Aldi more of a tray one you put pots in, I don't need one of them as have a radiator under my windowsill in my room

GWRS found a Lidl in Swindon -  http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/785.htm  so if you go you can have a look at the garden stuff

  • Hi all, went to my plot on Thursday. The chinese man on the next plot has been buying spring onions from the super market and planting them! I would'nt mind but he has left all the plastic packets all over his plot, so when it gets windy, guess where thats going to blowimage If its not gone by tomorrow I will email photo to council officer!!  HIs plot looks an absolute tip!

Will go up tonight to do more digging over. just been to Homebase and bought some more compost and some bedding plants as the garden looks a bit dull now. Have a lovely weekend

  • Ginagibbs you could take a pic of his plot and let us see too, nice to get new bedding plants

    Ginagibbs, how annoying.

I got my RHS seeds yesterday, very exciting! (From the RHS members' seed scheme, not from RHSPlants.) I got cleome, hellebores, calendula, helianthemum, and verbena bonariensis. That's on top of the pile of seeds I already have, but I'm sure I'll fit all the plants in... Somewhere.

Lots of people on the allotment site today, most of them building fruit cages, polytunnels, and whatnot. I'm lucky that my neighbours are not building any large structures and are extremely nice.

I did a lot of digging and am now completely exhausted and still chilled to the bone - the wind was bitterly cold.

Sounds like we are all getting ready to start sowing.I still need to buy some compost.

The bee keeper had four plots so there are vacancies again. There were a lot of plot holder on site today.

Got lots done, two beds dug over and another path laid.
