I've still got some garlic, shallots and onions to put in. It will be next year for me, too before I go to the plot again.

I've been going through the Kings Seeds catalogue. Was going to try some F1 varieties next year.

  • Hi all, hope everyone is well.

We have about 35 mainly half plots on our site Garden Girl and only 2 keep chickens. Its often very quite, I love being there on my own.

I remember Percy Thrower GWRS although I was quite young when he was on the TV!

Did'nt get up to the plot this weekend. I have got time off after xmas so will do a bit more digging then.

Does any one bother to cover their plots over the winter of leave them to the elements?.

Garlic and onions already popping up, no suprise, we have had some warm weather lately.image

Hello , I rough dig and leave to the weather and on some I put some horse manure on top for digging in in the spring image

If the soil is soft enough which it is at moment I would do a bit of weeding as wellimage

  • Ginagibbs Thanks quite a few plot,  I am going to cover bits of plot when dug as weeds are still growing, cover with some weed matting brought a roll off ebay , was going to do some digging today untill it rained just checked plot - so much to get done

Chickens need covering up at minute cause of bugs if one lot gets ill all chicken /ducks have to go so hope not

GWRS not seen Percy Thrower they do mention him sometimes on GW , good about the horse manure

Finished my bird house all pained and ready to go out with nice new roof

I've covered some beds. Laid cardboard down, covered with muck then black plastic. Some will stay covered till April/May, ready for stuff which can't be planted out till then. Things like sweetcorn, mini pop, courgettes, squash...
