Gg. Sorry to read you've had a letter. I struggled last year due to ill health and still have problems with my back...to cut to the chase...I tried a few things to keep weeds down, planted ground cover, planted perennial veg/fruit and put in paths.

Don't rush into planting stuff into newly dug over ground, leave it for a week or two to allow any weed seeds in it to germinate. You can hoe these just before planting veg giving the veg a better chance.

Keep a hoe sharp, I spend at least 10-15mins hoeing beds of newly planted stuff.

We've a leak so water won't be turned on until it's been repaired.

Hello , few hour at plot yesterday morning , sunny but very cold

Planted climbing roses on other arch

Rough dug again 2 new beds that have been over wintered with clover as green manure , have to say really kept the weeds at bay

We managed to cut up a damaged water cube and o/h took it to tip

I do a lot of hoeing as well

    Going for a walk shortly

Have a good day everybody image

Aster2 you could pinch out the growing tips low down with leaves on and see what happens

Went to the plot to water in the GH. Most seedlings are to small to plant out and there's an expected down turn in temperature this week. I've been leaving the GH door open each evening and putting plastic lids over tender stuff.

Noticed, the peas which were planted out have been nibbled by pea weevil. Sowed some Hyacinth beans on 02-Apr, six have come up which is a first, the seeds were out of date to...

Can broad beans be planted out now, they are only a couple of inches high...

Hope everyone has a good week...

Zoomer , broad beans are normally hardy , mine where put in Autumn , however , with a drop  in tempreture due this week , I would be careful , perhaps put them out under clouches ?
