Hi all. Full steam ahead at our site. Water is on and its busy most days and evenings. Some of my radishes and turnips I sowed direct are already up now, just waiting for stuff grown under cover to grow on a bit. Planted some peas that I had growing in drain pipe, however its being eaten by something so have covered with netting. Slug pellets are a must Aster2 !!(or stale beer)image

Have started a mammoth task of clearing the wasteland to the side of the main path through the site, purely voluntary, but it looks such a mess and my neighbour keeps throwing his junk over it.  I thought if it was planted up, like some other people have done, it could look nice .image

GWRS, what type of rose arch are you using, we have the metal ones and they are not really strong enough for climbing roses, so I think we will have to build some wooden ones around it for support.image

Ha ha, ginagibbs, I hate the smell of beer, so I'm going to go with the slug pellets! image Good of you to clear up the junk, hopefully it'll also stop your neighbour adding stuff to it.

Ginagibbs , it was from  Lidl , got it last year and is surpising strong , put the feet in concrete , will put picture on

Good idea to tidy up wasteland , once tidy people usually stop dumping stuff , can't understand why people do that

Been up again today lovely and sunny and put in main crop potatoes , Golden Wonder , never grown these before plus few other little jobs

Was going to build a fruit cage but give up on idea ( sowed green manure last year and it kept the weeds at bay ) so created 2 new beds where it was going , only rough dug it today image

Hope alls well with everybody image

Another hot day here. Went to the plot to water and check if seedlings were okay in the GH. I've been leaving the door open and lost some seedlings but most are looking good.

Hello again, its that most exciting time.
This time last year I started on my first ever allotment but I have finally finished! Yay! - Its only taken a year of really hard graft but its complete and I'm so excited for the coming season.
I'm trying Square Foot Gardening this year and have spent the winter planning meticulously in front of a roaring fire and a glass of wine - purely for inspiration purposes of course.image
But really pleased how everything is coming along and I'm trying a few new things this year, such as salsify and scorzonera, lemon cucumbers and cucamelons and hoping to grow a summer squashes (tromboncino and red kuri) vertically.
    Its all too exciting! image
Are there any new things that you are trying this year?

    Hi all

Been given the dreaded letter ( like Stagbeetle had) last week of uncultivated/ overgrown plot,  you lose a few days (4) to when my letter arrived have a month to sort out - so only a few weeks left, is rather upsetting image as not had the allotment plot a year yet and don't want to lose my plot

Have emailed council lady to say I want to keep my plot and given my reasons for not getting much done

So I wrote a list of what needs to be done looks like loads  - and am trying to get as much done as possible before the next inspection  - Have been a few times to get digging - removing some weeds that have come back along the first row we dug but also been laying a patio in back garden so few bits going on at once

Aster2 it is nice to have flowers on the plot

GWRS the pallet pile is still there not moved yet

Pentillie will find out about shop for you going next weekend 30th,  I will ask then - know it is volunteer run by committee members - would be nice if you could get a shop at your allotment/s

    Zoomer44 is a great shop

Caral nice pics, I am trying cucamelons - so snap, beetroot at the allotment as does not do anything at home, water melons - free seeds from allotment shop as out of date, can't remember any more a min
