Afternoon everyone,  Have just finished tidying the house as everyone has gone out. Hubby is at the gym and secondborn has gone to a friends sons birthday party, he's one today.  I must admit that it is getting me down now having secondborn and partner living with us. I can't wait to get my space back.  They aren't the tidiest of people and our house is quite small.  Only 9 weeks until the baby is due and there is so much to do at their new house and the list of jobs seems to grow daily.  Still I musn't complain they are both lovely and are working really hard to get it all completed before the baby is due.

No sure whether I will get some time in the garden today.

Glad your mag has turned up Pat and that you got paid Clari.

Sounds like a good night was had by all Dove.

Hope your daughter gets some rest and that your sleep pattern keeps improving Hosta.

You have my sympathy Yvie. Hopefully things will get sorted soon and you can have your house back  image

I think I'll go and paint some of the fence while the sun's out. Borders are still pretty solid so not much can be done there.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I'm not sure Pat, I will try and find out, you sleep tight chuck : )
  • Harrumph! image   Cricked neck still painful and going into spasm if I turn my bead wrongly.  More Deep Heat rubbed in and Solpadeine Maxi Strength taken - trip to Cromer for fish and chips cancelled and Sunday lunch at local pub (walking distance) booked.

On the bright side, we've been sitting watching the bluetits nest-building in the nestbox we re-sited to the remaining ash tree image

Dove you're right; if I want anything for work (be it a special thing for a new project or even day to day essentials like paint for messy play) I have to fill in a purchase request form. This can be accepted / denyed / lost. But once accepted if I actually want to see said item materialise I have to go out and buy them myself and thrust a receipt at the boss.

I don't get a budget to plan my own expenses / projects / any investments in the education or access to any funding other than my own wallet. It does make things tricky but I imagine it's not uncommon in small museums!

Get a hot water bottle on that neck (not too hot) and maybe a bottle of wine; everyone knows wine slowly acts as both a muscle relaxer but also a tension reliever so that you don't fear moving your neck meaning the muscles won't pre tense.

Blimey - doesn't the garden start to look like a garden again when the grass has been cut !? image

Poor timing with a lawn mower service / mild weather followed by lots of rain meant the grass hasn't been cut since the beginning of November - it was up to the poor cat's leg pits and swayed in the breeze. Much, much higher cut than I would normally do but still looks soooo much tidier image Cold out there though - didn't linger.

Pork chops with thyme and caramelised apples, sweet potato and carrot mash, kale and peas for dinner tonight. Think I'll start getting ahead now .... after I've had another cup of tea image

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

I don't think a bottle of wine on Dove's neck will help Clari.....oh... I see what you mean  image

You're caught between a rock and a hard place there - you're trying to do your job well but you're being royally humped. There - I've said it. Hope you find a better employer who appreciates all the hard work you do Clari. You're too good for that place, and they rely on the fact that you love it all and want it to be successful.

Got lots done outside too T'bird - no grass cutting though. Will leave that for a while. Ground's solid anyway in the shade, and soggy where it's not image

  • Sunday lunch at the local pub was very good and very filling - friend has just caught a cab to the station and OH and I have walked home and collapsed on the sofa incapable of doing anything more strenuous than watching Miss Marple.  image
