Yes Joyce. His garden though very small is walled and in a very warm part of the inner city, one degree warmer than mine in the suburbs. His climber especially the roses do wonderfully well. A young robin, cheeky Sam, the sparrow who darts in and flies off with his food no matter how big the birds already there and a wren from the front garden which is their stronghold as they love the black grapes i let them have from the vine that climbs the bungalow wall, have all visited for the crumbs this morning and one squirrel who is now stripping the nuts on the contorted hazel. The blackbirds must be out in the fields but the crow who spooks them all is up on my roof as I can hear him scolding down the chimney in my study. He may be scolding me for not replenishing the food for him!
Hi Marion hope you are well?, just been trying to catch up reading your thread, them pears look yummy and I like your friends clamentis it's got lovely flowers.
ive been busy today trimming my shrub, it's got so high I had to get my step ladders to trim the top, the bees love this shrub so I had to be careful not to disturb them, I've taken a few photos to share with you of plants in my garden that my bees are enjoying this year........
Lovely pictures Flumpy. I shall sleep like a top tonight as I have walked many miles today in Warwickshire. Int he morning round the Heritage Victorian gardens at Hill Close in Warwick where i smiled ruefully when I saw Plot 5 and 6 Which Monty Don restored had box blight much worse than Longmeadow! But the other 16 gardens were in great nick and the cakes the volunteers make for the coffee shop are second to none. Then in the afternoon to lunch at Coughton Court NT and touring the gardens till five. Home very tired at seven. I bought a pink chrysanthemum plant and another sempervivum. Had to be up very early for the long ride so I think an early night is on the cards.
Marion, you sound like you've had a really nice day, my kind of day too and them cakes sound delicious, I remember watching montys box blight, I've just been watching Escape to the country in Warwickshire it looks a lovely area, you get some sleep now Marion night night God bless
Slept in - right through radio 4 and did not hear a word! Dull this morning but still warm and forecast is for dry all day so should get some gardening done. full of ideas after my trip out yesterday! I will plant the alpine dianthus and three pink cyclamen I got at the AGS meeting on Friday night first.
Morning Marion, clear sky here but thunder storms forecast tonight, hope you your plan comes together in your garden, I got my ideas from a garden design book , it's exciting isn't it, have a nice day, I'm just getting ready for work now
Beautiful sunny day in Bristol and so warm. we may have thunderstorms later so out in garden as soon as possible is the aim. the six new plants i put in yesterday will have to be watered till we get some rain.

Not surprised, Marion, after your busy day yesterday.
We had a very stormy night and it's still windy but dry. Leaves down so some clearing up required.
