These begonias are semperflorens not the bigger sempervirens Joyce. I bought 70 plugs at a cost of 2p each in the spring and they all thrived. I will take some as presents to the ladies of a club i am giving a talk to in October as they will flower for months yet if kept frost free and put the rest into the conservatory. They are very easy to take cuttings from. This is my bargain of the year but i have had many. Many companies seem to have overstocked this year.
Marion, I meant semperflorens (age affecting the brain) Due to the mild winter, some of mine survived in their pots and flowered well this year. I've never thought of taking cuttings so may try a few.
That's a lovely crop of pears, Marion. I've just finished picking my Victoria plums; not all are completely ripe, but the wasps had found them - the next door neighbours have a wasp nest in their loft so there are lots of the beasties about at the moment.
It's too hot for gardening at the moment!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
GWRS Thank you. All is well and a little fresher today in Bristol today. I got a bit too hot for gardening yesterday afternoon when the temperature reached 25! A breeze has sprung up now so should not reach those temperatures today. I did harvest some monster Bramleys which would have been threatening to damage my skull if they had been left to fall in a breeze so must have been expecting the weather to change. The kitchen table is covered with trays of onions , gold and red , waiting for me to net them too. I love harvest time in my garden. Bit of a squirrel in me I think.

The b sempeverens are great wee plants especially for shady areas plus the bonus of no dead-heading
