  • Very well GWRS as I hope you are.  Dry again this morning but we had a fare bit of rain yesterday which should have benefited the garden and perhaps nothing will need watering today. on with the autumnal jobs.  I found the Gardeners World program on Friday much more satisfying at an hour long  The container garden contribution seemed a bit too pricey for us ordinary folk though.  I think there should be more emphasis on low budget gardening now austerity measures are hitting a lot of people hard financially.  If gardening is worthy of being an Olympic sport, surely it must be affordable for everyone.  I was born to one of the poorest families in Scotland as my grandmother was widowed with 12 children aged 13 to six weeks long before the welfare state was even dreamed of but still learned to swim at school and play hockey.  Gardening for all no matter what your income is my motto.

Good afternoon , yes I liked the hour long g/w show and thought the cost of the front garden pots would be a bit pricy as well

Gardengirl on the allotment thread mentioned Wyvedale g/c where selling all there seeds off at 50p so have been and bought a few , it is a bit of a way out at Horncastle a market town in the Lincolnshire Wolds but a pleasant trip out

    Hope you are keeping wellimage

  • Dull Monday morning, though dry now the garden is very wet so we have had rain in the night.  I have a dentist's appointment in the afternoon so perhaps i won't attempt any hard work this morning outside anyway.  Heatwave predicted to come our way tomorrow.  Weather never boring in this country.

Heatwave due in London also, but the BBC have moved it to Wednesday unfortunately Marion.

  • I put out some who;emeal bread crumbs for the birds.  First a huge slug came for a feed and then this squirrel.  I must clean my kitchen glass door!image

Squirrels are great opportunists Marion but a pesky nuisance as well.  It's years since we had red ones in the area.

  • Yes i have to keep the conservatory doors and windows shut when my figs are ripe as they come in the house to get them knocking everything over in their way.  It is damp again in my garden this morning but the sun is out now and it is warm.  I only needed a clean and a polish at the dentist yesterday so that is over for the next six months.
