A very sunny dry Monday morning and this huge cream lily bud opened this morning. There are three plants each with only one flower on but they are spectacular/
End of July or beginning of August usually.Joyce. My sweet peas are showing colour this morning. i am just about to feed everything in pots. One of my fb friends who has won innumerable prizes at shows adviced me the way to have the garden at its best for judging was to have things in bud a month before so i have done that.
Timing is everything for a show! The weather too. . . . move pots into sun/shade/protect from wind/rain. An attempt to emulate the growers for the big garden shows with their cold storage etc.
I am not surprised Marygold. The scent is really powerful this morning. The whole street will be able to smell it when all three are flowering. Here they are this morning.
I think my lilies will be about two weeks yet. The buds are there but nowhere near big enough to open yet. I look at yours and can almost smell them. Do you know what the pale dahlia is called?
I have a lot of Bishops children that I grew from seed, but subtle they are not. I also have a cafe au lait, nice colour but dinner plate size blooms that need supporting.
The dahlia is called Melody Dora, fidgetbones. It has lots of buds still to fatten so looks like it will flower well into the autumn. Also from Bloms Bulbs. i have been having my spring bulbs from them for donkeys' years but this is the first year I have tried their summer bulbs and am delighted with them. I will go and take its picture for you.
