Heavy rain forecast to reach us at lunchtime so all systems go this morning.  I have started pollarding a hazel nut tree in the front garden to get new peasticks for next year and to make another "window".  Rather than multitasking I prefer to kill two birds with one stone when I can.  The pollen forecast is moderate for today so perhaps I won't sneeze so much today.  I think a lot of it may be from dust from the road though.  I think quite a lot of the country is in for heavy rain today so gardening will be restricted.

I have had the heating on at low today imageso it's good to have some bright flowers to lift the spirit. I hope the weather will allow you to have your display ready in time Marion.

Hello , when I did some gardening the other day I did 2 hanging baskets and pots with black ray petunia , geraniums , trailing verbena & trailling petunia

Never seen a black petunia before , something different I thought

    hope today's gone well image

It has drizzled and rained on and off since lunchtime so I watched Wimbledon.  A 90 year old is the beneficiary of "Love your Garden" tonight at 8 on ITV1 so I am hoping to get some tips as to how to manage a huge garden when you keep getting older and frailer!

Well all I need is an army of beefy landscape gardeners, a large win on my Premium Bonds and I could do a tiny part of my half acre!

I'll make do with the one beefy one who lifted the fruit trees image There's no way my garden could have raised beds but I do sit to potter away at the pots on the patio.

Marion,I didn't realise you had half an acre. I think you work miracles for your age. You put us 27 year olds to shame.

TY Fidgetbones but I have no wish to put anyone to shame.  I just enjoy my good fortune at having had a husband who agreed against his solicitor's advice to put the garden for the children to enjoy and me to plant up before the house.  For the same price we could have had a better house but titchy garden.  I am grateful for his good sense every day even dull damp ones like today.  Still looking on the bright side the pollution and pollen count are both low.  I should get some more pollarding done before the rain is too much for even me.
