I call it my "Healthy" Xmas cake Joyce,- no royal icing, some sugar in the recipe omitted and grated carrot for sweetness, Some fat omitted and replaced with grated Bramley to give a moist texture. Five eggs instead of four. Could not find a substitute for the brandy though.
Oh Thank you, thank you, BBC, "Saving Mr. Banks" was just wonderful. I laughed, cried, danced and sang, And left the world behind to live the life of the characters - all of them. What a story! What a cast! The remaining Xmas programs will not surpass this. So glad it is on three times!

I've just a look at the Chinese Foxglove, Marion.
A lovely plant which would need to be grown in a pot up here so it could be overwintered in the cold frame.
It has gone mild again in Bristol - 7 degrees already. I am getting the conservatory ready for Xmas.
I just can't believe that another year has gone, where does the time go.
Ta -raah! Two ready for collection. One more to do.
You have been busy, Marion. i love rich fruit cake......a bit too much for what's good for me.

I remove the icing but love marzipan. The friend who makes a cake for me always puts on a good layer for me.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Yearv
