I love watching Escape to the country too and A place in the sun, some people don't like to compromise do they.
Sounds like you've had a nice day in the winter sun Marion, my osteospermums are still very green and my tulips are already popping there heads up, I will take some photos at the weekend, well if the weather is dry because I still have plants flowering, they are so confused, even my fern hasn't died off yet. Just resting my head now as I've got a banging headache, you rest up too now Marion : )
We like to watch those shows as well. It gives is a bit of a view of some of the places we wouldn't have a chance to see. I particularly like Jasmine Harman and Johnnie Irwin, but we're getting to like the new presenters as well. I'm always amazed that some people want to move to Croatia and some of the other areas. As for Spain, it's too reminiscent of our hot dry summers to tempt me. They never seem to realise that the reason that some of the dark rooms are there because it's the only way to get away from the heat.
Good morning Marion, gosh you had a very busy day yesterday!
You put us all to shame, you must be Superwoman!!
What is your secret...........share please!
I am longing to get outside, but it is so soggy underfoot. Will cause more damage than good, so will have to be content with seed sowing in the greenhouse.
Pat my late husband used to say that about the houses in Perth WA - that they were so dark with the curtains all drawn but then he was a registered blind person and bright light helped him to see shadows.
No secret, flowers, apart from always having to work hard. I had a two mile walk to school from 5 till 15 when I had a bike for my birthday I have never had a car or much money for bus fares or taxis so walking has been my means of getting around and taking my children about Bristol. I am careful about easing myself into heavy work I start back gradually with perhaps an hour instead of a big session.by doing warmup exercises first and, if I have to take a break because of the weather or visitors I start back gradually with just an hour. No aches or pains after yesterday's Herculean session.
Oh dear it seemed quite bright this morning but it is pouring with rain now though I can see some blue sky still.
The rain soon went so I got up the garden after all but oh it was so windy - some gusts were nearly toppling me as i am not very heavy so I did not trust myself with my camera but weeded and planted in as sheltered a place as I could find and now have very rosy cheeks! I did bring in some sticks of my Cornus mas Siberica to put in the vases beside my forsythia and hazel and no doubt in a few weeks all will have sprouted roots. I do wish my Xmas hyacinths had had their name on a label as they are so beautiful and seem to be a different variety from the one I grew last year called "Carnegie" as they have green tips on the top of the buds which I had not noticed on "Carnegie" So pretty I will have to do some research. Here they are today.
I do like Hyacinths and you can almost smell them , always used to have a couple in my office at work , unfortunately o/h can't stand the smell so never grown them at home , do have a couple in garden thou
Marygold I am 87 so you will understand when I say I do my Bend Stretch and Twist in private now and also my dancing. Before I went up to university I used to help my uncle in his dance studio teaching ballroom to Polish officers who wanted to go dancing to meet Scottish girls as marrying one meant they could stay in this country after the war so I was a good dancer by 18 and was invited to all the formal balls at uni and to the officers balls at Leuchars. I still like to dance but do it in private round the bungalow which has good silk oak and mahogany parquet floors and a sprung floor in the kitchen diner which I had the builder do for me when I extended the bungalow. That keeps me in shape for gardening too!
Marion, you continue to surprise me. I, of course, knew about your enthusiasm for your lovely garden, but did not expect the dancing and continued dedication to keeping yourself fit and strain free. Hooray for you.

Good advice Marion on warming-up before doing anything strenuous in the Garden. Ever thought of doing a gardeners' fitness video?
