Garden very wet but no rain at present though it is forecast for the afternoon.  Mild however.  Visitor this morning too so no gardening.  I will deadhead in the conservatory though as there are two good lights in there so can work even when it is dark outside.

Oh flumpy, best of luck with your car.  My visitor - he of the tiny garden- has just left.  He brought a beautifully hand decorated box with four presents in it, one of which says "for your alpine tapestry" on it!  Intriguing. I got up early and made him Welsh cakes which I know he likes and he took the rest home.   I had a parcel from my youngest daughter with a gorgeous top for me to wear Xmas day with my new slimline black trousers.  It is black with beautiful pink lilies on it.  I must ask someone to take a picture of me in it on their phone on Xmas day and email it to me.

White grass once more this morning and still just 1 degree but it is early yet.  We may have some sun today.  I am expecting a redelivered parcel that had to be signed for and unfortunately was delivered while I was at the post box with my cards so no hope of getting far from the house till that arrives.  Still have to deliver the local cards on foot.  Yesterday my six purchases from SGC arrived.  !0 tulip Rockery Pinocchio need planting and five alpines bursting from their pots so need repotting to spread for my Alpine Tapestry garden big plant in the spring. Lovely dark leaved ajugas - A. reptans Evening Glow, A tenorii Mint Chip, Leptinella La Platts Black, Anacyclus depressus Silver Kisses and a chocolate mint for the herb garden.  Such lovely plants to work with.

Oh the wonderful scent coming from my lilies my friend brought me last Friday.image

Marion, if you remove the pollen with tweezers the lilies will last longer.

I love flowers in the house over xmas....prefer them to decorations. I now have four vases, with the roses in the porch where it's cool.

Thanks Joyce, I may get round to it - removing the pollen I mean as it can be indelible if landing on clothes!

Postman brought two cards - one from a Botanic garden friend had seeds impregnated on coloured paper for me to sow, paper and all, the other had a packet of Chinese Foxglove seeds in it from a FB friend.  Two nw experiences lined up already for 2017 to add to my Alpine Tapestry Garden venture!
