A better day weatherwise today. a slight frost but sunny, dry, and no wind. Temperature forecast to reach 10 degrees so should get a lot of planting done. I must see to all my Mothers' Day presents. Thank goodness my spring supply of compost and manure arrived in time. I sowed some broad beans in pots yesterday so with the early potatoes chitting nicely on sunny windowsills I feel next year food supply is on the way. My onion sets are on the way and the garlic cloves are here ready to plant. I will make room for the heated propagator in the conservatory to get my tomato seeds started in there. Kale plants that were a failed order last year are being delivered free of charge this year so must get a raised bed ready for them.
Fidgetbones every garden like every gardener is different. The important thing is that it gives pleasure. solace, gratification, privacy or whatever else the gardener wants from it. My camera and I expect a lot from my garden but even so we are continually being surprised and delighted by the surprises. My scientific bent of course helps as my curiosity which is what science is, is forever being stoked with the fuel of growing or not growing as the case may be, plants. The rose is full blown this morning. I will snap it for you.
I was very near you this morning Marion but didn't think it right to pop in without giving you notice I did think of you as I passed round the corner and hoped you were doing ok
you have some lovely, lovely pictures, makes us all quite envious!
Do not pass by if you have the time to visit Fruitcake. Always lots to see. If you come up the drive to the garage and tap on the kitchen door I should hear you if I am in. Otherwise wander up the garden till you find me. The weather is going to be milder from now on so i am sure to be in the garden a lot.
These are my favourite dipping into books which sit on my desk in my kitchen diner. The lounge is like a library. But when I am waiting to take a cake out of the oven or having a meal by myself these ones are the favourites. You should see my gardening books!!!
Lovely sunny morning with no frost and dry and calm. It is already 6 degrees and set to reach 10 so should have a good few hours to fill up the green wheeliebin which gets emptied this morning. One of my neighbours has felled a dead elder which was in the hedge between us and it has landed on my path so I have that to clear away. I will leave the trunk in a corner of the spinny for the wildlife to use as shelter and food.
Good morning Marion. It's misty here at present, but we are forecast a bit of sun and 9C by early afternoon, so I anticipate a happy time tidying up in the garden, once the chores are done.
I like your idea of leaving the elder trunk for wildlife to use. A neighbour gave me some lumps of tree last year, because I have a wood burner - didn't have the heart to tell him they were willow, and therefore pretty useless for heat production. But they've made a lovely home for the local toads...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
