Another damp dark day in Bristol, not good for my spirits.  I need a plumber to be my knight in shining armour to raise them!  Must wait for office hours though.

Earliest plumber who can come out to me is Friday afternoon and they cannot take away the old machine so it is a two man job to get the old one out into the garden.  I had paid two lots of £19.99 to Coop Electrical for fitting of the new machine and taking away the old one so I have asked them if I can have a rebate on both as I have had neither service.  In the meantime I have put a load of washing in the bath to soak and be hand washed later as I have a Xmas dinner to go to on Wednesday and the AGS Xmas party on Friday.  I need clean clothes.  I could not change my bed this morning as I have run out of clean bedding.  Perhaps I will get an extra set in the Boxing Day sales in case this kind of thing should happen again.

  • That's really tough, Marion.  Are you sufficiently friendly with any of your neighbours to ask to use their machine, since you're in dire straits?

Oh dear Marion. . . . how will manage to get the clothes dry?  I have an ancient spin drier that I keep for emergencies.  I also have a very good stock of underwear!!

The gentleman next door who has Parkinsons is very ill and has been in hospital the last five weeks or i would have borrowed their machine as they have mine in the past.  I have a clothes horse which is now bedecked and in a spare bedroom in front of the radiator which i will have on this evening.  It is too mild at present to have any heating on despite the constant rain again.  Yes undies were running low so they were given priority .  I had a rummage around my drawers and found four clean sweaters i have not worn for years but used to till I had lots of new ones so they are airing now. I usually change my bed every Monday but will skip it this week.  Coping and carrying on "carrying on", TY ladies.

Hello , in Lincoln Age Concern and a Home Agency have approved contractors who will carry out work for Retired  / elderly people and have fixed costs so no rip off merchants , also depending on income some work can be done free , if  you have problem with plumber or even getting washing machine out side for the council to collect

    Have a good day image

It is dank and dreary outside but not indoors as I have just had a phone call to say the plumber has had a cancellation and can come between 11 and 5 today!  Clean clothes on the horizon!

  • Hooray!  Good news!

That's a big relief for you Marion.

Lovely sunny morning here after a few days of grey skies.
