I'll try to remember the name of this site when mine are in flower aNd post a picture. Won't be for 6 months though. Woul like to be able to identify it.
Kathy I don't know what it's crossed with I wasn't told, this will be my first time growing them, never had them before. That would be great Kathy I would love to try and get some more, now I know how to start them off.
Would be great to see your seedlings.
Kathy can I ask what time of the year do I start seedlings off, so I can get these seeds started.
I'd wait till the end of February now Lorna if you sow now its going to be cold before they germinate and you'd need somewhere warm to keep them,my first mistake when I started was doing just that, lost the lot over winter except for one, they'll have a whole growing season then and should be big enough to plant out in the autumn, I used to overwinter my first year seedlings in the greenhouse but last year planted them out and all except a couple were fine one even flowered in its first year, never had that before, not a very good one though its heading for the compost lol.
Here are the first seedling pictures, these were grown from seed sent to me by the BHHS ,the seed is sent to them by the AHS donated by their members, these were sown in 2012 and flowered for the first time last year, all these are from the same cross 'Time Warp' x 'None Like You' , hard decision deciding which to keep and which to compost or find new homes for, I like all except the first one that's not such a good colour.
I've had a basic yellow one in the garden since I moved in, no idea of it's name, but this year I bought 'Daring Deception' - don't they have fabulous names. Thanks for the warning about Kwanso, nearly bought it but will now avoid as I don't have room for thugs.
Hi - am surprised that no-one has mentioned here that you can eat Hemerocallis! Apparently the whole plant can be eaten but I've only tried the flower which I enjoyed - maybe one way to keep the beds down!!!

Pat is this your double orange 'Kwanso' ?
I got my latest daylilies from strictlydaylilies.com. It has quite a good search engine - may be helpful with identification?
No Kathy. Mine is a more peachy colour, not so dark orange. and the flower was flatter. ( the centre petal's not standing so upright).
