Just watched the one about the model village.  It was really cringeworthy I felt so sorry for Monty.  I really don't know how he kept a straight face.

Loved last nights episode, both gardens were beautiful

How hard did that lady work digging out all those ponds!!! Looked amazing though and fantastic idea how they re built the garage and faced the wall with those lovely stones

I really drew inspiration from them both image

Ps Yviestevie the one you said about model village episode, I don't think they should have even aired it! They should have left on the cutting room floor!!! And I'm sorry but thought much the same on the other veg garden on same episode!

The veg garden one could have been lovely done the way that Geoff Hamilton did it, with veg in with the flowers. Don't why Monty says veg have to be grown in rows, Geoff proved they didn't.

The garden with all the roses had veg growing amongst the flowers - cottage garden style image

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

I just think Monty knows that its not going to be a great way to be productive, the lady with the roses wasnt really bothered about veg, but the lady who planted eratically specifically said she wanted a productive garden. Monty was just explaining that its difficult to have high production if you want a more informal garden complete with weeds.  It wasnt my kind of garden but I could see its appeal for some people.  What I dont understand is why people sign up for this sort of programme when its pretty obvious that they have no intention of taking any of the valuable advice given.

I keep gasping at the cost of it all.  I have a very tight budget being on Guaranteed Pension credit but I have a very productive garden so have a millionaire style diet - all organic with no food miles and no millionaire could buy the satisfaction i get from doing my garden.  Monty was so right when he said to one couple (the Japanese Garden ones I think) do fall in love with the process of gardening.  Growing a lovely plant from seed or a cutting from a friend gives much more pleasure than buying hundreds of pounds worth of plants from a garden centre.

You are a sensible and wise lady Marion. But probably a lot of people aren't willing to put in all the work that you do. I'm really pleased with my yellow buddleia, a friend gave me a cutting about 6 ins tall and now it's taller than me and been covered with bees and butterflies.
