Just finished watching them all - thought it was a really great series.  Only one I didn't like was the model village episode - but all the others turned out really well - and all down to the hard graft of the owners ....that was the really inspirational thing for me.  If you get out there, work hard, and take on as much advice as you can get, anything is possibleimage

Agree about the model village one.  They were a rather eccentric couple and seemed happy with it though.  I still have the last one to watch so will save that for a treat tomorrow night.

I wasnt so sure about the Norwegian garden either.  I am sure it would look better once everything settles down and the planting grows but looking at it as a whole it did look a bit too 'builders rubble heap'.  I am sure it looked better if you were on the ground and actually in the garden.  The owners loved it which was the main thing.  I did love the slate seat built into the wall, great idea.

I love Monty but wont be watching any of this series. I am so fed up with the BBC putting on progs with general public as stars. They do it because its cheap, they only have to pay one star. There are just too many of these, boot fares, cooking, house moving, quiz shows.

If people want to buy a ready made garden, thats up to them, I prefer to grow my own, much more satisfaction.

Lyn, I think you've misunderstood the premise of this programme - it is not about people buying 'ready made' gardens - they design and make their gardens themselves, over a 12 month period, with Monty giving some initial advice (which is not always taken) and popping in half-way through to lend a hand and answer any queries.

  • im grateful for any gardening programmes on tv as we are woefully underrepresented! I enjoyed it, but like others could not believe the amount of money spent. and I did like montys advice to the chap with the pond who wanted to do everything.

ive certainly got some new ideas for my garden.what are we going to do once gardeners world is finished?!!

I think it's a little unfair to be critical of anyone spending ten or fifteen grand on a garden. I know people who'll easily spend that on a holiday or two, a second hand car or even on clothes - in a year. If you have the money - why not? The two young lads in Wales spent hee haw so it doesn't always mean you have to lay out big bucks. It really comes down to what you have to spend, and how much effort you want to put in.

Good luck to them all I say, and I hope they all get a lot of enjoyment out of their plots image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Its also good to see small gardens represented - not 'small' as in half an acre!  Normal sized gardens.

  • I moved into a house with an overgrown garden. At the moment i have just cleared it and hopefully next spring, money permitting, will start landscaping etc. I was hoping the programme would give me some ideas but nothing suited my garden. It did however inspire me that with a lot of hard work i could achieve the garden i want which i think was the point of it. Does anybody know if there will be another series ?
