Claire, just about all you can do is keep your fingers crossed. The tree may have been 'sulking' after the shock of being planted and will hopefully soon start growing again. To check it hasn't died, scrape a bit of the bark off near the end of a branch with your thumbnail - it should be green underneath. If it is brown, move down the branch nearer the ground and try again. If you don't find any green underneath the bark anywhere on the tree then I'm afraid it will have gone to the great garden in the sky. If that's the case contact the supplier and you may get a replacement.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
have a flamingo salix for a few, now it looks unhealthy & its lost all its leaves & the branches are covered in yellow. however there is a new shoot underneath the old branches. any idea what is wrong & what to do please
hi, I noticed my flamingo Salix was looking sad a couple of weeks ago, with brittle brown ends and dying leaves. On closer inspection today noticed lots of bees landing on sticky looking sap and branches covered in brown bugs with red marks? Any ideas if this is why it looks so sad and how I can get rid of the bugs....there are hundreds. jet washing?
I bought my first salix flamingo about 3 weeks ago and planted it in a pot rather than in the ground. It is out of direct sunlight for most of the day in my north-west facing front garden and it is watered daily unless there has been rain. The leaves have begun to lose their lovely pink colour and are becoming increasingly paler - now a creamy white colour. Is this normal?
I started this thread in 2012 and having taken the sound advice given, my Salix Flamingo is thriving, I took a picture this morning to show you but unfortunately I'm not able to upload it - obviously doing something wrong! Thanks as always for your help.
hi I bought a Flaming Willow last year and its in a container and I felt watered plenty but this year it was growing really well then 2 days later had dried up and gone really crispy so gave it loads of water(even though it had rained quite heavily)and next day the whole lot had turned brown! Have I killed it or will it come back from this and if so what do I need to do please! Lyn Roker
