My shabby chic veg patch and area is my favourite part of the garden and ironically apart from I tail sweet pea care, it is the part that has had the least attention!

    Flumpy's pic is very pretty.

These are 2 plants I bought when in England on holiday, haven't had time to plant them yet. Helenium Sahin's Early and Laurentia which I'd never heard of.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Ooh- that's nice Busy-Lizzieimage

I've just bought a tiny Sahin's for my new 'hot colours' border. I thought they were more pinky but I've never seen one flower in real life.

Loving everyone's monardas too...I've got buds for the first time, seems like I've had the plants forever. Does anyone find the stems grow along the top of the soil which seems to make them prone to snapping?

    Wearside, England.

Yviestevie, that looks lovely, is it growing out of the top of the pot, what a great idea. Lovely sweetpeas, love the dark blue.

Hi Lily yes Ive planted it in a pot that has been lurking in the garden for a few years now (so I know its frost proof)  because its a boulevard clematis it only grows 3-4ft so should be fine trailing down the side.  The sweet peas have been a bit tricky this year plenty of flowers but the stalks have been very short.  I have removed the tendrils so they dont kink but they still seem short, never mind they still smell georgeous.

    Love the colours Yvieimage

Lizzie - laurentia is my staple for all my pots, because the deer don't touch it.  Its a fab plant that flowers on and on and on like a horticultural fireworkimage.  Here it is from last year:
