Glad you posted the 'afters' image I was just about to ask where they were.

When the oil tank moves, what's taking it's place - a great place for a pergola - or maybe a BBQ area image

There was an after pic on before I posted my comment and it disappeared, so it looks like I was commenting on a photo I though was after but is really before......does that make sense???

I've been rather disheartened lately. My greenhouse collapsed taking with it all the contents, and all my seedlings that had been transported outside were eaten up in a matter of two days. Seeing your gardens give me hope for next year, but in regards to my garden this year, it's a now rather a sad sight.

Oh, what an awful thing to happen SweetPea. Weren't you able to salvage anything? What did the eating? Slugs and snails?

I'm assuming so. Had no problems at all for maybe two months, then seemingly overnight they were eaten up! I've only found a few snails and slugs, and I did resort to using pellets, which I didn't really want to do, but now there is nothing worth saving. It's a real shame, I had maybe 200 established plants one week, the next I have about 5 left. I had plans of giving a bunch away to work friends to get them involved in gardening. Oh well! Such as life!

..that Cecile Brunner rose is just fantastic... I don't think I've seen one as good as that.. are there 3 planted in a row there...? I wonder...? whatever..just gorgeous...

There are 2 in a row. OH gave it a really hard prune in 2012 and cut all the dead out and last year it grew like mad, but fewer flowers.

Could it be rabbits or deer SweetPea?

Oh Sweetpea, that's awful. I thought I'd not seen you about for a while image I had mice eat a dozen chilli plants and all the chillies last year overnight, it seems rather a lot for slugs and snails....they would be full to bursting a staying all that!! I know how you feel because last year the only thing I was (almost) successful with was the chillies and was gutted when they went!!

Are you in Sheffield or Nottingham way? I might be going over there in the next couple of weeks and could maybe let you have some tomatoes and chillies if that would help? I've got quite a lot.

Don't lose heart SP. These things happen to us all. Was it one of the plastic growhouses you had? They're very awkward if they're not really securely fixed - as I discovered last year in this very windy new garden. Slugs and snails can annihilate small plants and seedlings very quickly. The DIY stores and GCs have loads of things just now if you wanted to buy a few things to keep you going and cheer you up.

It's not too late to sow some more bits and pieces - I have  seeds of different bits and pieces. Would be happy to send you some if you want them.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
