Blimey GG bet your muscles ache after digging out 17 bags of horse muck, nice black stuff though
Lovely Chooks Fruitcake. They look very healthy.
Buzzie, your plot is taking shape nicely, I dont have many grass paths as they got lost under the undergrowth before i took it on, and all the digging I did make them muddy, so most of mine are covered in bark chippings now.
Will try to remember the camera over the weekend and take some shots
I know grass paths are the very devil when it's wet, muddy and slippery. As we speak I'm considering bark paths before next autumn (sooner if it's a wet summer!)
Weighing up the cost of scaffolding planks to edge the beds, there's an awful lot of edges!! Have a contact for untreated plank £1.50 a metre, or £3.84 per metre treated from builders merchants. Both will cut to size. Free bark available from local farmer. Decisions, decisions... for now will keep the bed edges dug back. Will be interested to see your photos.
Fruitcake you chickens look beautiful bet they are loving looking around their new home like that they are all different colours
BizzieB I am first on the waiting list for an allotment
Ginagibbs my muscles and back painful from that lot - photos sound good
Went to Inexcess Ringwood and brought a fork today as one in garage is really bent, I will still use it, lots of bird food and also got some more petunia seeds as other ones sown not coming up think I had the pack too long
So been sowing more seeds today - no big fence posts there so will have to wait a bit for that to be fixed and put my sweet peas out
My Verbena B has come up 2 seedlings sown on the 19th
Lucky you GG, my Verbena's are still on strike, think I might throw the tray out and start again
New fork sounds good, I managed to break the tine on a lovely one I inherited from my father and hubby broke the new one he bought me for xmas. The ancient one I have at the allotment has a broken handle !!
I finish work early today so will be doing some more digging tonight, also went through all my seeds last night so will get some more going over the weekend
Thank you for all your birthday wishes my boys bought me tarricotta pots and plants for my wild garden and pond
Bern to the allotnment this morning and was chatting to a lovely older coupl and they were giving advice about the spuds which was great. Turned over 2 of the patches and started digging over another and raked them.
