    fruitcake you will be fine!

I said to Mr Stagbeetle that when the boys are older and not using the garden to play football in then we will get chickens again and a beehive, Mr Stagbeetle just rolled his eyes at this image bless him.

Thank you both- it's quite a scary prospect now it's almost upon us image

I am having an allotment free day tomorrow. Well, that's the plan anyway. I don't want to be doing all that nonsense on my birthday lol image

I was there today though, putting the extra wire on the roof. Absolutely gorgeous day. We have a pallet holding down some black plastic sheeting, and my thick kneeler just happened to be on top of it, so I had to have a little rest and lie in the sun for half an hour imageimage

Happy Birthday's Stagbeetle and Fruitcake, hope you got lots of nice gardening things!!imageimage

Yesterday was my day off so I finally got the "exotic" border finished at home plus planted lots of tulips and other plants that have been waiting to go in for ages, so I now feel less guilty of neglecting the garden ! (feels like I have 2 gardens nowimage).

Down at the plot ,got 2 rows of spuds in at last, used a bulb planting tool (good tip from youtube), saves digging a trench! potted on my cucumbers as they are getting bigger, the other seedlings are coming on now too. Will sow some parsnips and radish if it stays warm. Muscles ache today as I did a lot of digging too.image

Cannot wait until the weekend when we get extra light in the evening plus an Easter 4 day break coming up.image

Will post some pics soon for you GGimage

Thanks Ginagibbs for the pics busy you,  I will add some pics soon of the horse manure

Put up my 2nd 5 tier plastic greenhouse yesterday so 2 weeks since the other one went up -  so today I will put the seedling in there so many in living room taking over place and growing fast

I have my cape gooseberry seeds up took ages to germinate out of one lot of 10 seeds I have two growing bigger and 2 new germinated ones, I sowed 2 lots of 10 seeds about a week apart thinking the seeds were not doing anything they are slow growing

GWRS the horse manure non smelly it was bottom of pile well rotted for about 6 months  when I get an allotment plot some will be going that way

Stagbeetle like the way your potatoes were chatting interesting - not chitting

I will try and sow sunflowers maybe Friday or Saturday ones I figure how many I can have in the flower patch and which seeds to start off, going to try sorting out flower patch today

    How's everyone's allotments looking?

Zoomer how the newbies getting on?

Happy birthday Stagbeetle and Fruitcake, hope you got some nice pressiesimage

Gina, Gardengirl and Stagbeetle, you've all been very busy and it' sounds as if you've got lots of success so far with your sowings!

Fruitcake, I'm sure you'll be fine with your chooks, you've taken some good precautions so far re their safety. The Internet as you know has a minefield of information and there's some interesting forum sites where lots of people are happy to share their experiences. Enjoy your girls when you get them but I'll warn you they are 'time wasters ' in as much as I can watch them and chat to them for hours! image

Hi everyone  image gosh, you have all been so busy I feel like  I've been standing still!

Although the weather has been cold/windy/wet/sunny to varying degrees managed to take off the covering of the smaller bed and part of the big one. Forked over the soil removing lots of weeds and the long white roots. Not digging againas dont want the sub soil to come up - it will only dry up hard and nobbly or wet and lumpy. More manure to go on this weekend.

The blue tub holds horse manure being rotted down and in the green mesh bin (behind) I put the hazel sticks cut early in the year.

Stagbeetle I haven't sown any seeds yet I'll probably start early next month when it gets warmer, plastic grow house erected and ready?

I didn't get one of the sheds from the other sites Gardengirl, as they are rented with the plot. My neighbour is kindly letting me store my things in his shed which means I can walk to the plot without the hassel of driving there.

Fruitcake, you will  be fine with your chooks image  I'm really impressed with your new plot and the chicken house and the thought you've put into it. Can't wait for the photos.

put the sunflower seeds in loo roll tubes trying them again as did not have any tin cans I could use and a few yogurt pots

BizzieB your plot looks really good, looks like you are going to have a nice lot of space to grow things in

Here is the horse manure I collected the other day, from this
