Hello everybody , Rosemummy hope you don't wait to long , have you had an allotment before ?

    I' m sure I put a post on hear last night , strange !

Had a good day yesterday at plot , replaced 2 broken posts and few other little jobs , also got some leeks , a bit small so o/h cooks them whole plus some sprouts . Had to take clouche off some of broad beans as got 2 big

Somebody had left 10 pallets in the car park so helped self to 2

Forecast dry for weekend but possible snow and very cold

I trust you are all well image

I had to drive out of town today and noticed snow on the hills. I've other jobs to do though if the ground is frozen at the weekend.

Is it my imagination or do leeks continue to grow in winter, I'm sure my leeks have been growing in this mild weather. I've still some reasonably thick leeks left when I thought the best had been picked... image... and celriac was left in the ground because it was too small to pick in September/October, not a winter veg and not sure if they will bolt when the weather warms up but they look ok for now.

Hi Rosemummy. Great idea to get an allotment to help with your depression, gardening is so absorbing and good physical work, I always come home happy after a few hours there even if I have'nt done an awful lot. I am sure your little ones will love it too, lots of fresh air and mud pies are great fun!!image Good luck, I hope you get one soon, 1/2 plots are manageble.image

Rosemummy , I always found a few hours in garden or allotment  made me feel better

This is great site for practical help and advise , always found it useful , you could see if the Libary had any books on allotments ?

On our site there a couple of young families and the kids have there own little section , best of luck image

Zoomer , yes definately leeks grow , I did celrica last year and it didn't grow that big

Got some chicory in but seems complicated to grow it

might try forcing some Rhubard for the first time

clear blue sky's and sunny but mighty cold , need to go into Lincoln this afternoon , tomorow football , hopefully up the plot on Sunday

    Have a good day everybodyimage

Went to the plot this morning. Had aload of flag stones delivered for a shed and GH base.

The council had delivered a pile of bark so bagged some up to mulch paths before it started snowing.
