  • I don't think I have ever eaten aubergines either image

Are they prolific growers? I got sent some free with an order and thought I might try this year. Can they be grown outdoors?

And why does the pic on the front of the packet look like a plum tomato?!

Thank you Fruitcake, saved by the bellimage.....glad I'm not the only one !

  • I make Aub curry, must admit the fried aub especially in Chinese rest is so delicious. Lol just sown globe artichoke never eaten the stuff having now realized its not going to be easy and it'll be a while if it does grow I'm having second thoughts.

GH is up and looking beautiful, plants and seed trays have moved in wont be long before it fills up.

Woo2 the propogator will be used indoor no electricity in GH.

  • The magic rhubarb had grown even more by today! It's been planted out now so hopefully it'll continue to thrive. Dad is under strict instruction to get some manure to put around it, as well as around the raspberries, blackcurrants and gooseberries that I planted up there today image

  • And I am 95% sure that the mystery raspberries on my allotment are autumn rasps- they look exactly the same as the autumn bliss I planted at my parents today

  • Fruitcake went around an open garden and saw some chickens will add a picture sometime they looked so cute

I need to cut the raspberry canes down here

I not eaten aubergines, I like plain food not sure I would try them

You'll not get a glut from aubergine plants but if you like eating them they are worth growing.

I've not eaten globe artichokes but have some plants started last year, fingers crossed will try them for the first time.

Hoping to start digging over the top half of the plot this weekend.

  • I grew aubergines once, they were very small. I do eat them a lot as Baba Ghanoush (middle eastern dip) Roast them for 1/2 hr in their skins and mash them up with sesame paste , lemon juice and garlic.  Yummimage Bit like a smoky hummus.

Woo, I use the heated propagator for anything seedlings, nothing specific.

Poly tunnel arrived today imageso need to shift a few things around to  fit it in. I have a small raised bed to go in and some of the shelves from my wind wrecked walk in greenhouse. Happy days!!

  • I have read some reviews of the aubergine seeds I have got and have decided not to try growing them so I have an unopened packet of morro rondondo seeds going begging if anyone wants them

Ginagibs, Gardengirl, thanks for advice. I am in Farnborough. I had a look around, and you are right, there are lots of manure and stuff going free. image

We have build few raised beds last weekend and filled those up with fresh soil and manure. I hope it will work.
