I'm not gonna lie, it's been hard work and as I type, i ache. Lots. Today I've pulled up a bed full of strawberry plants and dug it over ready for the next lot of stuff to go in. But by doing all this in the first few months, I won't have to work so hard next year. Hopefully
Hello , I have an allottment and it states in our rent agreement about keeping it tidy etc
however if there is a problem plot ie. badly overgrown with weeds they are told to tidy it up but are given plenty of time , recently a plot holder had a replacement hip so lots of us helped her out
however we did have one allotment holder who kept Chickens , unfortunately they where being neglected and the plot was becoming a rubbish tips , atracting rats so they where given notiice to quit
There is a row of canes about half way down which is where mine ends. The only thing that's the same now is the compost bin, but that's going soon, being replaced with a dalek type one.
To the left of the pic at the bottom is the bed I pulled all the strawberry plants out of today. Behind where I was stood to take that pic is a 9ft x 10ft bed that houses my cabbages. I will try and get a better pic tomorrow
Hello everyone it's been great reading about all your Allotments. We have had ours for 11years and its wonderful. We come home hurting like mad but it's been worth it. We thought it was going to be a bad year because of all the rain earlier in the year. Our plot was flooded in some parts and we were really upset because we had worked so hard. I'm so happy to tell u that we have had a bumper year carrier bags full of fruit and veg. We have given our neighbours and friends plenty of our produce which has made us feel the hard work was well worth it. Enjoy your plots everyone and we hope you make lots of new friends like we have.
GWRS I don't know how long they'd been there, and the fruits off them weren't that great so I knew they had to go. I've got 20 odd plants at home ready to replace them
gardengirl my plot goes down. You have to look quite hard to see the canes but they are there.
We've finally got rid of the wooden composter what kind of idiot A- uses painted wood to build one and B- uses a wooden base?! I've just taken so much to the tip because the paint had chipped into the compost so much
Nice idea to put pictures of your allotments on the site , will try and work out the technology and put one of mine on
as any body grown sprouts , this is my second attempt , last year they turned out great lets hope it works this time but having been on holiday for 2 weeks and just popped up to the allotment they have like " soot " on them , any idea what it is ?
spending the next 3 days up there to tidy up then on to the garden , sweet corn looked ready to harvest as well
