Same here, the botanical gardens are always on my list for autumn visits
Have spent the past few weeks in the garden tidying, weeding tying-up, digging borders, pruning...because I now have my own allotment and know that there will be lots to do there. But not today high wind, pouring rain and chilly so maybe not such a bad day to tackle housework maybe.
Remembered we are into October and the Botanic Garden closes on Saturdays, Fruitcake. Weather has been very wet and windy this mornig but clearing up now and the sun has arrived. My friend is bringing me his daylilies which have grown too big for his garden this afternoon so I hope to plant them this week while the soil is still warm.
My friend brought me six bin bags full of daylilies so I have a big job ahead of me this week. He also helped me get my big table back into the conservatory which had to be taken out for the workmen coming so i can now prick out my six types of perennial that we had to sow late in August for the Nation of Gardeners trials for Mr. Fothergill's. Busy, busy, busy. Looks like a good gardening day if a bit chilly. the sun is shining and lots of blue sky. Listening to the weather forecast for the north and east I do think we are very lucky in Bristol weatherwise.
I got my aoniums in from the chilly front garden just before we had a shower of rain, but bright sunshine once again. The aoniums have done well after gracing the front garden all summer and now look good in the conservatory.
So chilly this morning and the garden is very damp with quite a few puddles. Quite calm at the moment but forecast for today sys windy and risk of thunderstorms and the showers may be heavy so must get out now and bring a few more tender subjects into the conservatory plus 9cm pots and trays to put them in for the perennials needing potted on. That is one job I can do indoors.I am looking forward to the writing about gardening day school at the Bot. Garden on Saturday coming. I do hope it is a bit warmer then.
Good to hear from you, Verdun. I will be at the Bot. Garden on Saturday next for a Writing Course but it is closed to the public on Saturdays now. Open Sunday to Friday inc.

My platycodons are still flowering beautifully and I just love the pentagon that is their bud, here on the left.
