Good evening and what a warm evening it is , just been watering our garden, I've finally seen my Gazanias flower, the flowers are so big and colours so vibrant, I woke at 3.30am for some unknown reason But I was surprised at how light it was and could hear the birds singing, Marion you are a woman of all talents and have been blessed more ways than one, my cherry tomato seeds are two inches tall now, when should I plant them into pots?
A beautiful sunset this evening wherever we are, I think. Red and orange spreading across the horizon (and just over the fence!).
An early start this morning, I don't enjoy very hot weather and there was a lot to do in the garden - mainly tying up raspberry canes and deadheading generally, very mundane tasks.
The low evening light seems just right for taking photos with the tablet, brings out the colours better than in the daytime
Two clematis here in the same pot, the one on the eft has been deep purple, right a deep pink. Both going over but beautiful anyway.
A good feeling wandering around at the end of the day.
Yes, BizzieB dawn or dusk for good pics or a cloudy day. Lisa, definitely let your sedums get bigger before doing the Chelsea chop. I am not doing it on the two we are trialling for Mr. Fothergill. Flumpy 1 I am eating strawberries every night and freezing an ice-cream cartonful as well. In strawberry jelly in the winter or made into jam for a sponge cake they are lovely.
Very hot again in Bristol so lots of watering to do. My rainwater butts are quickly being emptied now. Sweet peas, tomatoes, runner beans will have priority. After that it will be all conservatory plants and other pots outside which will be metred water. Grrrr. Seems impossible after the wet winter we had.
good morning, a cooler day thank goodness. A day out yesterday, lunch with friends at local garden centre. Good to catch up and talk all things gardening. Browsing around to find a climbing rose for north facing wall. I had a few named ones on mind but couldn't find them. Looks like a visit to David Austin at Albrighton is due. Watered the plants last evening, now my water butt is dry.
Your beautiful white rose caught my eye Marion, assume it is a shrub rose 'Peace' ? I think we may have the same peony, no name for mine I'm afraid. Brought it here when we moved, took a few years to settle down but this year is the best for flowers - three blousy blooms!
This rose is another un-named but the scenr is heavenly
Quietly growing in the shelter of C.montana I was so suprised to see the buds then the blooms. Enjoy the day
Bizzie B it is another glorious day of sunshine in Bristol. That white rose is a climber Iceberg. It can be kept as a shrub. Peace is a beautiful old rose but not white. Google it. I have roses that take over just as my Clematis montana atropurpurea over the garage roof goes out of flower too. My pink roof then becomes a white roof. I did this decades before green roofs became fashionable! The RHS was so taken with the idea they showed it in "The Garden". I have started giving the front garden an hour's attention now each morning for the Bristol in Bloom display at the end of July. Lots to do.
The morning watering took an hour this morning and there will be another hour required this evening. Have just heard from Mr. F that the next box of goodies is on its way and may arrive today or Monday. I wonder what we are asked to do this time. It is sure to be something exciting. I have a glut of strawberries and broad beans so creative ways of using them is needed. Day off tomorrow as a FB friend and husband are arriving for second visit to Bot. Garden. I do hope they can see and smell the lotus flowers. The weather forecast is good at least till Wednesday so lots of gardening weather to look forward to.

When you have two lots of true leaves usually. by then they should be about 8inches tall.
Thanks Marion, I'm keeping my eye on them morning and night, also my curly Kale is about 1 inch tall. just been watching the sunset
Nothing better than home grown strawberries mmmmmmm
Thankyou Marion, I think my sedums are too small for chopping, I only put them in last year and they were in 9cm pots, so I shall leave them be.
