Glad to hear it, Lisa! The participants in Mr. Fothergills Nation of Gardeners Trials are about a month behind with flowers on the broad beans, growth of their garlic plants etc but they get there, just later than us down south. Frosty in Bristol this morning but no damage done and the garden is just so beautiful with spring blossom and bulbs in full flower.
Rained a lot through the night in Bristol but dry now and temperature is bearable outside so will prick out my own tomatoes, cerinthe major, zinnias, etc as I found a binbag full of suitable pots in a corner of the garage yesterday. Rain forecast to come from the east in the afternoon. It does make it easier to get plants out in the borders and to remove weeds first. The mild weather is forecast to return on Saturday. I should have my Mothers day display up and running and will post a oicture.
Oh my goodness my Jubilee garden is looking so golden i will have to take my camera out after the parcel post arrives with my redelivery. I have the most beautiful perfect golden tulips. I have already pricked out some of my tomato seedlings and found some terrcotta pots for my prettiest auriculas for Mother's day Some of my "Ancilla" are turning pink so will have their pots soon and find a corner in the garden for them to bloom again next year. The big pots of "Red Hunter" were double layered so the first layer has been dead-headed and the second layer is flowering. I can definitely say I have never had such successful early tulips which have been outdoors all their life. A winter like last winter suits them down to the ground (and the pot).
Aww, Edd! Lots of people gasp at my tulips in the front garden and say theirs are are nowhere near that stage! I bought a lot of early flowering kaufmanniana type ones and there is no difference in their development between the fresh ones in pots grown entirely outside and the ones from last years pots that i planted in the borders. Still confined to the house waiting for the parcel post.
Parcel post arrived and set me free with my camera. Do take a walk with me up and down my garden and round in the front garden too. Ten pictures at a time. The Welsh daffs, Alliu
Beautiful will do fine! So glad you like it. We do have quite a large community of Jamaican origin in this Bristol in the UK and they certainly added colour to the scene in the city when they arrived in the fifties! We do get our fair share of good weather and sometimes more than most as we are sheltered by the Mendip Hills. The flowers have loved the mild wet winter we have just had and Bristol can still count the total amount of frosts which were very slight anyway.on one hand.
Marion, just beautiful. I was over your way last weekend, wish I could have seen your garden. Your photos are lovely. Love your tulips, I still haven't got any out yet, they are all still in bud. I agree with Ed, so Beautiful.

Marion that's gorgeous! All your hard work is definitely paying/payed off! Is there more to come throughout the rest of the year?
