  • This good weather is set to continue well into next week too, flumpy1.  I have cape gooseberries galore and sweetcorn now up in my potager doing well.  It could not have been better weather for my Golden jubilee Year.

  • A little rain through the night which should have helped in the garden.  This warm weather is forecast to continue for the next five days at least so I am going to sow annual flowers for next spring  as well as plant bulbs.  Warm soil should bring them up quickly.

  • Whacked after filling all the windowsills in the conservatory and beginning anticlockwise on doing the floor beneath them.  Bringing well over a hundred plants in for the winter is a wearying task especially when you reach the big pots.  Sorry about my reflection in the glass which i cleaned after the glaziers left.  The new roof made them look very dirty!

  • 40 plug plants of Pansy Cool Wave (trailing winter pansies) have just arrived from   Jersey courtesy of Mr. fothergill for a Nation of gardeners Trial.  They have been watered and potted into 3in. pots and after my afternoon tea break will be carried into the conservatory to be planted out after three weeks or so.  I have yellow, purple and various combinations of blue and white as far as I can see from those already in flower.  so very, very pretty.

  • Oh what a wonderful day I have had at the Bristol Group of the Alpine Garden Soc. 's Annual conference.  Four splendid lectures, two of them to the Andes, lovely lunch, and I put the knife into my glorious Golden jubilee cake and the aroma of Cherry Brandy filled the foyer.  it tasted superb and made £31 for new projector fund.  It was stuffed with fruit, lots of cherries!  It was much photographed and praised for its artistry and taste.  i have lots of pics which I will post later or tomorrow.

  • Another good day weatherwise for gardening.  Pics from the AGS Conference yesterday.  You do feel so

Marion your photoessays are lovely, looks like everyone enjoyed that cake, someone must of took a long time decorating that cake very artistic. Well I'm glad to say Marion, the bees are loving all the flowers you told me to get, I've just got to keep dodging them when I'm cutting the lawn ha image, the weather in the northwest as been grey most of the time, I've heard it's going to be nice in two weeks so I may try and book some time off image
