We are back after a lovely 10 days in the Brecon Beacons. Stunning scenery, weather behaved, glorious autumnal colours and my birthday in the middle - all in all a nice little break.
Have speed read most of the posts from last week or so and retained some but not all of it.
DD - Glad to see your OH is safely home - I wonder if he's been a little tetchy because he's had a bit of a scare? My OH gets like that when he's a bit scared or feels that things are a bit out of his control. I'd get a bit weepy - but most men don't do weepy - but it needs to express itself some how.
JO - So sorry to hear about the New Kid - he sounded like a real character. Sounds like a lovely resting place for him.
BL - Sorry to hear about your dog too. It is quite traumatic looking after very poorly pets isn't it?
CLARI - Get yourself better before you even think of going back to work!
RUNNY - Hope your OH is now recovered from his fall - these men do seem to be giving us cause for worry don't they?
WW - Sounds as though you are getting thing sorted out. You'll soon be abe to fallolop in front of the fire with a brandy coffee and survey your new estate with pride.
PANDA - Hope the new job is going well.
DOVE - Hope the car gets sorted soon - I've had the same problem on 2 previous cars.
PAT - Keep telling us about Spring - it will help us get through Winter!
Can't remember anymore - sorry to anyone I've missed.
Rather a misty, very autumnal day out there. The driveway is glowing as it is covered in golden ash tree leaves so today I shall be raking and bagging those up and digging up the summer bedding which is finally going over. Some bulbs to plant and a log delivery to organise. I quite like this time of year - a real feel of nesting and hunkering down. Will probably make a large pot of Daal & some soup later.

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Pdoc, a very large heron landed on the roof of a house 200 metres away from here yesterday morning, just as I drove past.
Topbird, the car's getting just a little bit annoying now - the garage's diagnostic thingy isn't pinpointing the problem so today I have to take the car to the main dealer for their computer to diagnose the problem - I may be grounded until next week ... duh! Thank the heavens for my bus pass
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hostafan , simpathy for o/h , I have secondary arthritis in left foot but it come and goes , not had it for a quite a few months now but do need a walking stick when it hits
I do take fish oil capsules which is supposed to help ?
Jo: call the estate agent and tell them what happened. If they're responsible for providing you with the gas man they should be aware of the harassment he is now causing you. That is disgusting behaviour!
My dog had a good clean night Thank you for thinking of him. Maybe he just ate something he shouldn't.
Dove, my Renault flashes up a warning light regularly about the air bags needing servicing. Two garages have told me there is nothing the matter with the air bags, it's a fault to do with the wiring and computer and isn't uncommon with Renaults.
Helping with Quiz and Curry tonight in the village hall. Have made curry for 10, chicken casserole for 6 and a pud.
I have had osteo arthritis in hands and left hip for years. When I took hormone treatment for the menopause it almost disappeared but it's back now and my right knee that I injured in a skiing accident has now got it. Nuisance as I weed kneeling on a mat. Doc said that the hands were due to wear and tear from milking Jersey cows by hand.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Knees are probably the least 'fit for purpose' joint on the human body. Just 2 long bones (plus knee cap) - one on top of the other with just tendons and ligaments to hold everything in place. When you think of the weight bearing and work they do it's amazing they work for more than about 10 years.
Dove - oh dear that sounds like a familiar tale... The warning light only came on intermittently on one of my cars and, of course, it would never come on when it went to the garage. Took weeks to persuade them there was a problem. (Obviously I have nothing better to do with my time than take my car to the garage several times & hang around while they run the diagnostics....)
With the other car they just kept resetting the system & saying it was fixed. It wasn't. Took ages to get it sorted both times & never did find out the exact fault on either car. Both cars we ended up replacing the whole under-seat wiring loom and sensors.
Hope you have better luck. Meanwhile, bet you're glad you're not still living in the sticks & relying on a rural bus service

Hosta - Ma has always found that acidic fruits, particularly strawberries and tomatoes, make her arthritis much worse. Your OH will have been eating lots of tomatoes lately. Suggest that he cuts them out of his diet and see if it helps
BL - thanks, that's helpful to know flippin cars

Morning all.
Thick fog here, just had a heron land on the lawn, obviously couldn't see the pond!
Lots to do outside, but I can feel a lot of excuses coming on.
Have a good day.
