Evening all, I'll take a hobnob please Pdoc not a dunker tho!
I have just heard from my friend who is cycling round the world for charity, he has just had his campsite evacuated from a bushfire and was wondering if it was Pats hubby being his hero, however I am not sure which bit Pat is based in and haven't heard back from my friend as to which bit hes in! small world....anyway if so, its his birthday and he hasn't had any cake yet! Reckon Pat could hook him up? Pat .....
Hello Wonky. I've just had a look at his site. He is in Western Australia (well on 25 December he was) and they are having bushfires over there. He might have moved east since then, but I'll check in on him every now and then. As you can probably work out, WA is thousands of kilometres from us in the snowy mountains region of NSW. I'm glad he's keeping in touch with you.
Hubby has been up this morning doing stuff in the kitchen and this is the result - Lemon Merangue Pie.
I'm not sure whether to smile or cry. The bathroom scales this morning show a 1.5 kg increase.
He's now gone out to spray a Hypericum that he spotted in the paddock which he couldn't do anything about while it was raining. They are terribly persistent plants - even after spraying, the roots seem capable of still spreading. Jack of all trades!
Morning Pat, hope you had a good nights rest. I'm off now to try and catch up on all my lost sleep now that the last of our brood has headed off back to their home tonight. Aiming to be in bed before midnight.........just!
Have a good day and hope that the weather is kind to you,
Evening flowers - sleep soundly. I, as usual, slept heavily, although was briefly woken by the alarm going off at 5.30am - Hubby had another webinar session (genealogy) at 6am. I promptly went back to sleep and left him to it.
I'm currently trying to do a bit of my own genealogy. Ive contacted a couple of cousins that I haven't seen since we were kids (probably my sisters wedding in 1955). I'm trying to follow the Mitochondrial DNA trail from my grandmother. She had 11 children and of her daughters, there are almost no grand daughters from them - males mostly. If any of you are interested in following the female line in your family, I recommend Bryan Sykes's book 'The Seven Daighters of Eve'. Your library might have a copy.
just a bit of fun really, but I am interested, particularly since my daughters only had a male child and of my sisters children, her last dranddaughter just had male baby number 2. So if she doesn't have any more, that's mum's female line finished.
I managed to go back to the late 1700's with my Mum's side and my Uncle has gone back even further with my Dad's family.
I know what you mean Pat- my maiden name line will finish as my dad's brothers had girls ( one male cousin, but no kids) and my only brother hasn't any either.....very sad really when I think about how far back the family line went
