Morning Clari - think you'll need a 20 minute nap after lunch image

I think re floods and gardening help - there's very little that can be done at the moment - also as far as I'm aware the floods aren't long term standing water killing plants as was the case in the Somerset levels - short term floods shouldn't do too much damage to plants - its the washing away of gardens/structures etc rivers gouging out the banks that's causing big damage and I'm not sure what we can do about that from here image  Perhaps when spring arrives there'll be something we can do ...

Sounds like a fun night Clari.  Your Reggie sounds lovely. My HRH has been sleeping so much lately, I'm wondering if she is starting to fade. Her 14 th birthday is on Friday week.

Morning all/afties Pat. Nice pie  image

Gosh - you all chat late at night - I'm well asleep by half eleven! image

Dark and wet here. Still no let up in the north east and more snow and rain forecast for tomorrow. We may get some frost then snow here too.

Clari - large parts of the north east are cut off, and as soon as the snow gates shut at Glenshee - any time now - it makes even more difficult. Very big diversions to get anywhere. It's the nature of our landscape in the Highlands - one main route to the north east from the south.

Glad your holiday is settling down  now Hosta. We could do with some of those temps back here in the old country. Can you send some please? image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Morning everyone, hope you are all well.

Porridge for me too made by my hubs, it was lovely!

H iHosta, sounds like my perfect temperature. Very envious indeed.

    Thanks Pat's hubs..........very tasty.

Well today I am sorting out and doing housework as I have to admit that while our brood were here I only did what was absolutely necessary.

It will be good to have a good hoover and dust, then I can finally finish the kitchen springclean too ( hopefully, as I can feel the garden beckoning!)

Have a lovely day everyone x

  • Hi Pat, sorry meant to say that I found you post on maternal fami!y lines very interesting and will definitely follow it up , will see if I can get hold of the book .Ta.

Morning allimage Porridge here too (sorry Yvie !) - no honey, but a sprinkling of flax seeds and raisinsimage

Got a day off today - taking Chicklet for a girlie shopping trip, before she returns to Uni at the weekend.  Its been so lovely having her around again - going to have to get used to missing her all over againimage So a day of coffee, cake and chatter, with a few shops thrown in, seems a good way to make the most of the last days of her holsimage

  • Hi chicky,

I know what you mean! All our 3 use to go to uni and I hated it when they left to go back after the hols. Hate to inform you but it doesn't get any easier!

Ours have all now returned to their own homes after spending over 2 wks with us and today I am feeling quite ' down' with the empty nest syndrome  feeling.......I knew I would. I will be stripping their beds and cleaning their rooms today, will be a hard task, I have tears welling up in my eyes now just writing this!

Need to keep reminding myself that we should be proud to have raised 3 healthy, clever and confident young men who are eager and excited to experience the next stages in their lives.

    Hey ho must get on!

    Morning all.

    Still dark, and raining heavily.

Oh well, have my seed catalogues, and can start thinking about holiday.

    Have a good day.

Well plans today have gone all squiffy. I got a phone call from work to tell me that someone found my wallet in the park! Thank goodness for business cards. It must have slipped out while retrieving poop bags last night in the dark; I hadn't even realised I'd taken it with me! (Never normally do).

So no going and doing the weekly shop or nipping to a few places today in a bid not to go to work on another of my days off!  (Taking his lordship with me to collect it tonight).

Oh well. The dishwasher and washing machine are going, his lordship has been packed off to work with a lunchbox and packet of porridge (I can't tell him he's putting on weight but I can suggest he save money by not stopping for a bacon butty and a unhealthy selection for lunch from the shop on his way to work... does mean I end up having to pack his lunch though image ), Reggie is fast asleep and I suppose I could do the dusting...

    ... Or notimage
