Well the good news is I've been allowed to put the water back on. Bad news it sounds like the noise is an echo of a leak and could be from anywhere along the line of FOUR houses! The stop cock on the road is so old and... delicate looking the first job they have is to replace that before they can move on as he didn't dare try it!
I'm hoping its well away from the foundations but all we can do now is wait.
Hosta what a fabulous end to a sad story, so nice for your pal.
Sorry to hear of your wasted day Jo, what is it with these workmen?
Good idea to have committee meeting in the morning BL, always last all evening here when I go.
Will be hunting down the geranium oil LP, needed here at the moment.
Charlie & I escaped for a bit though. We collected some walnuts, did some gardening and then went off for a bike ride We had great fun freewheeling down the hills, was a bit tough getting up them in the first place though, I was embarrassingly far behind at one point. He says hi to you all and is not gloating at being 1st to the top - honest he says.
Red Pepper Salmon Pasta for dinner tonight, need to replenish my energy, peppers from the greenhouse.
Have a good evening all.

Very strange. A man just came to the door, asking to look round the house, as he was interested in buying it. I told him it was not for sale and he became a bit aggressive, until I told him to "go away".
Obviously he knew the house was not for sale: so was he "casing the joint", or was he something to do with the neighbours? Am I being paranoid?
Anyway, good excuse for a drink, to clam the nerves.
Lovely picture DD, Charlie looks like a lovely kid.

Just read back this mornings posts.
Thanks for the kind words re friend / daughter. I'll pass them on when I speak to him later.
He's had a poster sized photo of her on his kitchen wall since he moved there 5 years ago. Now he can get an up to date one.
Lyn has just left after hoovering up more seeds in the polytunnel. There's no stopping her. She also took 12 zantedeschia plants.
Just given in and switched the heating on. It'll be dark in an hour so no point doing any gardening.
Enjoy the rest of Monday.
Just spoken to my friend.
He's just come back from meeting his daughter and grandson.
First time seeing her in 15 years.
He's a very happy man.
I passed on your kind wishes for which he sends thanks.

S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
it's not that clear when you click on a photo is it Gertie?
I'd have expected some signal, swirly circles of lines of dots to show it was doing something.
Anyway, that's part of my garden in April this year.
Certainly looks very different now.
Go for it punkdoc,
I'm having a nice bottle of Abbot Ale to celebrate my friend's re-union.
One of our holiday let guests asked if we'd sell them our house. They came to visit a year later and asked again.
Some folk are odd.
missed you jo.
Is it just me or are lots of " secrets" being revealed in programmes this year?
Underground secrets, secret landscapes?
How funny, the hedgehogs are starting to feed an hour earlier over the last couple of nights.
