Morning all/afties Pat. Very dark here - no idea what it's like outside except that it looks dry!

Glad to see you're ok B'man, have you avoided any more flooding? Some areas have already had their wettest January and we've not had a week of it yet  imageThey're dynamiting the large boulder at The Rest and be Thankful  this morning. Pat - the castle is teetering but they reckon it can be saved. Not sure how they're going to do that given the state of the surroundings. It's a 16th century A listed building. Devastating. They lost around 60 feet of river bank, and the main road on the other side is the bit that's gone completely. I don't know how to do links or I'd put one on showing what got swept away. I got quite tearful looking at the drone film and photos. It's part of our historical landscape.

All our decorations are down - looks a bit empty!

Hope everyone who was under the weather is feeling better.  Off to work soon - a quick look here to see what you've all been up to. Have a good day everyone image

    Morning allimage

Decs down for me todayimage. Going out to the theatre tonight, so I won't have to look at the emptiness of it allimage

Glad your op has made a difference Flowers, and fingers crossed mini-Yvie manages to get her house move back on track.

It was me that said the evenings are lighter - not getting dark til about 4.45 here now - baby steps.  i know it happens every year, with scientific regularity, but it still comes as a pleasant surprise for meimage. Little thingsimage

Dove - it takes forever. Daughter presided over mine a  while ago - went on for ages image

chicky - I noticed they said that on the radio yesterday about lights going on at about ten past four. The light is meant to 'travel' north but it doesn't seem like that here!

Clari - stay warm whatever you do image

    Morning all.

The sky appears to have run out of rain, it is dry here for first time in what seems like weeks.

just had my first cup of coffee from new pod machine, a double expresso, intensity 12. It certainly woke me up, a few of them and I may never be able to sleep again.

Must do something outside today, seems like forever since I was outdoors.

Have a good day everyone, especially the workers.

I had a wander around outside yesterday during a lull in the drizzle. Everything is just so soggy and boggy - can't really DO anything image

    Morning all.

Thanks again for your support. Mercifully it seems to be a one off incident , perhaps brought on by too many sherbets?

DD I certainly know what you mean about " Brits Abroad" they really make you cringe at times.

We were chatting with 5 Italian guys the  other night. One of them is ,in his own words "obsessed with Oasis" . We thought he must be English but living in Italy. He's got the Liam hairdo, Union Flag t shirt, even down to the parka kinda coat and even the Gallagher swagger. He said he's seen them live 22 times. Sometimes flying to England just to see them. Each to his own eh?

It's getting quieter by the day , which is nice. We're not keen on crowds and other people's conversations / cigarette smoke.

Flowers I read your " big hapy grin" as " big happy gin". How Freudian of me.image

Hubby is happy as hotel have just told him they'll send an ironing board up to our room.

Fairy , can you let me know about the castle? I hate seeing old thing go. I blubbed when that 300 year old bridge collapsed the other week. I'm pathetic.

Glad to hear the day are lenghtening.

OH, just remembered. We were talking to a guest the other night who  paid more for 7 nights than we paid for 28 nights. How's that GUV?image

    Keep warm and dry folks.

    Devon.

Our garden is like a bog too Dove, far too wet to even stroll round back garden.

Hosta, glad hols are going well,  wish i was there........fed up with this weather image
