Hosta - I will PM you and show you how to access the info about the castle. There's more info on the thread today about the state of the surrounding area. It's not good  image

Glad all went well with hubby Yvie  image

KEF....too much pasta - that was the problem. I'd steer clear of that from now on if I was you....image  Hope you're feeling a bit more normal now image

Back to work in a mo - but Mr Blackbird is shuffling around looking for more grub....greedy b****r. He was sitting on the back gate this morning, before it was even light, looking hopefully at the back door  image

Took all the Christmas stuff down last night. Doesn't look too bad. Just a bit darker image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Hello again everyone, you'll know that I've turned about 3 pages since my last post, so I'll get mixed up with who said what, but here goes.

    Clari - greening up

    KEF and others with colds

    Bushman - the floods - Peebles ?

the castle - can't remember who.

    Hosta holiday

Clari - re the grass greening up, the answer is probably no. Once the rain stops, we'll be back into high 20s and low 30s, so it'll dry off quickly, and what we're seeing is the long stems of grass which are no longer green. Our neighbour across the river was only half  way through baling his Lucerne when the rain started. His wife told me he has lost about 500 bales because he can't sell wet bales and it's dangerous - can catch fire easily. So, I imagine he's impatient to get things dry again so that he can get the rest of the paddock finished.  Re. My vegetables, I've been picking a good handful of both green and purple climbing beans each day, until a couple of days ago when I noticed things were changing. The highest shoots were shrivelled up and there didn't seem to be flowers lower down the vines. Then a bit later I was on the veranda and looked over and there were  a couple of Crimson Rosellas having a lovely time on my bean trellis. image Puzzle solved!

KEF,  DD and others, sorry to hear you're still crook with the cold.

Bushman, did I get the name of the town right? I'm not game to turn back For another look. We had a similar experience in Ipswich a couple of years ago with disastrous results - the dam was released and a whole valley of houses were wiped out. It's a difficult decision for the people looking after the dams to decide.  I think there has been an inquiry about it. Glad you're ok.

i hope they can save the old castle. So sad to lose heritage buildings!

Hosta - what can I say!  You are going to have some interesting memories from this one.

going to bed soon, so catch all later.

Hi all - been busy sorting out son's room ready to start stripping the wallsimage.

Good to see you back Archie and Bushmanimage

I spend too much time on the iPad and although we have had windows10 on the laptop I haven't really got used to it yet and the photo transferring is confusingimage

Glad your OH's procedure went well Yvie but I expect he is impatient for the month to pass now.

Sorry to hear you're one of the poorly peeps KEF.  Not a nice way to dietimage.

Enjoy being back in your own bed Liri.  I'm glad we haven't got a spare room as I could get used to sleeping without the snoresimage

Fairy I think the blackbirds are just as precocious as the robins.  The pair here very rarely move away from the bottom of the bird table when I go out to top up the feedersimage.

Is it Abergeldy Castle? This is what the Telegraph says. I saw it on the News.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/flooding/12081476/Queens-neighbours-castle-overhanging-12ft-drop-to-river.html

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • That's the one Lizzie. Very sad. Hope they can do something to stop any more damage.

    Are you feeling better today?

Back from tennis - hadn't played for 3 weeks - gosh I'm stiff image

Not raining at the moment, but the sky is that yellowish-grey that means it's going to tip down before long ...
