morning Dove, Hosta, Archie. Doc glad to see you back.

Pat the borders has been lucky this time around a few close calls over the holidays, Peebles did suffer a bad spell of flooding but  they let water out from a local reservoir for safety reasons and the river tweed rose five feet in an hour image. The tweed runs through Peebles so you can imagine the effect. Selkirk was on alert a couple of times as was hawick so we were kept on our toes.  Morning SGL and Kef

Oooh KEF imageimage  You've not been anywhere near my son and his football club have you?  They all seem to have a similar lurgy!

Anyway, Windows 10 is now installed and I'm managing so far .......

Dove...when I installed Windows 10 I couldn't do a thing on the computer as Kaspersky rejected it as a bug, you may need to go into their web siite and alter the settings and do a special update.

  • Morning Bushman and Kef,

Kef sorry to hear you've been poorly. Hope you feel better soon.

Still very foggy here, can't see any of the garden. Will leave going for a walk for a couple of hours. By which time it will probably be raining, so still no fresh air!  Fingers crossed for dry weather today.

    Morning all.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly KEF. Was starting to wonder where you were, but I haven't posted since yesterday morning. Cold took a turn for the worse yesterday and now OH has caught it. We were both sniffling and coughing at 4am.

    Good morning all.

Mist is lifting but drizzle seems to be permanent (when it's not actually raining, that is).  Looked at the garden the other day, but it's absolutely sodden...

KEF, at least your image gave your New Year diet a boost... image  Glad you're feeling a bit better.  My cough is easing, to the point where I may actually return to the marital bed tonight.  Both OH and I wake easily, so if either of us is ill we go & sleep in the spare room so as to save the other from being woken up all the time.  I've been away a week!

The sitting room looked so bare without the decorations yesterday that I was forced to polish Granny's copper kettle & jug, which live in the fireplace when it's not full of angels and stuff.  Polishing's not my favourite job but at least you can watch TV at the same time - and the shiny copper does provide a bit of substitute "bling".

Ironing on holiday, Hosta??  Is your OH so bored?  Glad you're having a good time.

Pat, will your surroundings suddenly green up as a result of the rain?  I've never really visited - let alone lived in - anywhere which dries out to such an extent.  Hope your veggies are growing well now.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Lyn  thanks image I got a message from Kaspersky that there may be some conflicts but all seems ok so far - fingers very crossed.

My laptop had been running very slowly of late - that problem seems to have been resolved at least image

While I was waiting for Windows and Laptop to do their stuff I spent the time with Chilterns and Sarah Raven catalogues ........ loads of ticks and maybes ....... I'm going to have to weed and thin image

    Morning all.

Decs down and dusting for me today as well. Will also be doing my own computer backups / software updates - so air may be blue in a few hours time image Obviously it's that time of year when we all start trying to put our lives into some semblance of order image

Not much on TV this week so we have been watching 2 episodes a night of S2 of The Affair. It's not great TV and nearly as confusing as a Scandi noir - but it draws you in so we'll keep going with it - 7 episodes to go.

To be honest though I have seen far more of Dominic West's btm than I ever needed or ever wanted to - and I can't get past his previous really excellent portrayal of the mass murderer Fred West in the mini series 'Appropriate Adult'. He looked disturbingly like West and I'm now finding it very hard to see him as a person somebody would find sufficiently attractive to give up their family and home for. Definitely not my Mr Darcy or Poldark ...image

    Well that was a mistake.

Thought, blue sky, quite warm, I will go and clear some of the borders of weeds. Every step I took on the lawn, left a deep foot print, which then started to fill with water.

That confirms, it has been wet!
