Hi everyone. 4pm and just about to sag indoors with some knitting. It was so lovely today that we even sat out on the back verandah for a while and got some rays.
I remembered, belatedly, that I'd not put soaker hoses along the veg beds before I covered them with cloches and horticultural fleece. Made it a bit hard to water them, so all the fleeces off again and the soaker hoses put in place, then fleeces back on and tucked in so that the cabbage whites can't fined a way in. Picked some heads and leaves from the broccolini and some kale leaves for tonight. Should be good.
Dove, thanks for your support. I have been told they we will get a visit in the school holidays, about 2-3 weeks away, but will get actual date closer to time, so that'll be good. He's a nice kid and I'm told getting quite tall.
Morning all. Well at 04:00 I got up, used the outdoor loo and had a strip wash in the kitchen sink (cold tap only so the boiler didn't wake my partner).
Why was I sneaking around? Because at 05:00 my boss was picking me up as a group of us were having a day in London meeting and viewing some museums and discussing their future.
I stood outside my house from 04:45 (didn't want to wake the house remember) til 05:50 being harassed by the neighbours cats while the bosses number was on auto redial and I hunted the internet for news of crashes on the route he'd be taking.
Our bus left Sheffield at 06:15 (you'll have guessed that he had the tickets).
Having agreed with another member of the group as a sensible thing to do I was just digging out my car keys to go and search for him when he finally made contact at 06:30. He'd "slept through" the alarms and the fact that three of us were calling him, his partner, and the home phone.
I can't even spend the day visiting garden centres instead: spent all my money on bus tickets!
I hope you all day a good day and that it warms up. 5'C is COLD!
That made me laugh, Dove. Must keep a note of the address - there's nothing to compare with British comedy.
i feel for you all with the cold starting. We had 21 today and it reached 35 in the greenhouse. Just as well there's not much left in there at the moment. Waiting for summer vegs to germinate.
Oh, poor you snoodle, I feel for you. I only have the one child, was never quite brave enough to have a second, how people cope with babies and toddlers at the same time I don't know, think I was totally shell shocked for about 5 years.

Morning all - dry here with lots of sparkly dew on the grass
Back to work today though
Clari - wouldn't have caught me using outdoor facilities and washing in a sink just to avoid waking OH. Sod that for a game of soldiers. Mind you - the first one would have slept through it anyway, and the second one would have been awake!
Hope you're more relaxed now - I won't say 'chilled'....
Difficult situation Pat. New relationships and trying to make it all work. You can only be supportive and try to stay positive x
I'll have a quick look round now - was watching An Inspector Calls last night so had to make a quick exit.
Have a good day everyone. Hope the weather's kind
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Clari it's not too late to go back to bed. Hope your boss refunds your bus fare.
Snoodle I do feel for you - been there, done that - just hope that you don't come down with it too. Glad Dove gave you a lift with the M & W clip. My favourite sketch of theirs, though the Two Ronnies Fork Handles takes some beating.
Hope you soon get a date for Grandson's visit Pat then you can start preparations
Got to go for a walk now but it doesn't look very enticing. Needs must.

Oh Dove, wish that was real! And 10 mins peace to enjoy it!
Thanks Dove. That worked! They were brilliant, weren't they?!
