Morning all. A wonderful day off and I've sorted out all my work emails and am trying very hard to not waste a rare precious day of peace and quiet as a chance to get everything for work caught up with (I wont get an office day at work for a good few weeks yet which of course doesn't bode well for getting ready for next term).
I need to prune the wisteria: its an absolutely beautiful plant: grows across the outside coal shed and outside loo (dead posh in Yorkshire) But his lordship isn't so keen (it makes a mess after flowering) and its growing right where he wants to put a conservatory. I'm sure the previous occupants said it was over 25 years old (mind you they also said the tree that is currently holding onto a beautiful crop of pears) was an apple tree. I'll summer prune it today but how far back can you prune a wisteria before its time to say your goodbyes?
Good morning all, just having breakfast in back conservatory and wearing sun glasses very sunny , however , popped outside and there seems a slight chill
paper work day , if manage to get it all done , will cut lawns
Hope you're having a good first day, Wonky. Don't suppose you'll have time to look in here until evening, but we're all thinking of you (and hoping your arms aren't too painful... ) And best wishes to RB's son too.
I'm doing battle with the boiler at present. The room thermostat batteries have to be changed once a year in August, so I did the job yesterday - but now can't persuade the boiler that we don't want the central heating on... it's a combi so we need it for hot water, but I'm having to keep switching it off when we're not showering or washing up. I'll have another go at setting things this evening, when the thermostat thinks everything should have gone to bed. If that doesn't work I'll be on the phone to Bernie the Boilerman...
Lovely sunshine this morning! Must cut the lawn, then maybe a walk in the park? Sounds very geriatric, but when we're busy OH and I are trying to fit in a high-speed half-hour walk to keep the gremlins at bay.
See you later folks
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Lily Pilly. That ok. I do tend to go on a bit, so your vision probably started to glaze over. You have probably worked it now that the photo was taken from the front veranda. Good to hear from you all.
Hello folks - I'm back from a trip into the village - I didn't need much so I went on my bike I should do it more often it's a nice bike and I like cycling - it's just I've never quite got to grips with the complexity of the gears - think I have about 30 to choose from - I was always used to a bike with just 3.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Jo, I got my bike second hand from a lady whose husband had bought it for her as a retirement present and then she developed Menieres and couldn't keep her balance - it was a shame for her especially as she had always enjoyed cycling. She'd only been out on this one half a dozen times and it was really expensive - I only paid £50 for it! It was just what I wanted - straight handlebars, comfy seat, ok for longish legs ... it's just all those gears ... but I will get the hang of them - hopefully it'll keep my BP in check
