It was BusyL 's comments about her ancestors, we get so much pleasure from Hubby's genealogy digging. its always a surprise when you find out something good or bad about them and you wonder why the story hasn't been told down the generations. We always watch the "who do you think you are" programs. There's also an American one called Long Lost Family. its a bit different, but still interesting.image

Pat, tell hubby Hosta is a he, not a she. The fact I've got a Husband does tend to confuse. x

So sorry Hosta, I forgot. imageNo offence intended.  Ive been thinking about you since the last post though. Do you think you should get an X-ray of your pelvis, it sounds more uncomfortable than just a bad fall.  Now I feel bad. I really do apologise. image

    lol, Pat.

Absolutely no need to apologise , nor feel you've offended.

Being part of a same sex couple isn't always easy to convey via a web forum. Not unless one intends to come across as some sort  of crusader. ( which I'm not )

I do have a large, orange sized lump in my buttock, but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

What a fantastic programme D. Attenborough was, brought all the memories of trip to S. Africa back and made me look forward to next years trip to Botswana even more [ sorry I know I am bragging ]

Hosta, if you still can't sit or move tomorrow, I think I would have it checked out. Once us chaps get past 50, things do start to go wrong, or is that just me!

How can you lie there and think of England

Thanks Punkdoc. Sitting on a pillow as I type . To be fair, I did come down with an almighty thump. I'm hardly surprised it hurts, and I got a lump.

  • A few years back I researched into my Mum's family tree (my Dad's was already done) and was moved by what I learnt. I was able to get a full history of her family going back to the mid 1600s, and an insight to life in London during those various times, housing, illness and infant mortality and the hardships bestowed on families when the husband died young. Although a lot of family still live in and around London ( even all my own kids), a few years ago we went in search of some of the addresses that were dicovered, some were now just narrow alleyways behind hotels and shops and of course alot were later bombed during the wars.

I am sad that I didn't do this earlier as my Mum would have loved to have dicovered what we were lucky to have been able to about her side of our family. I am just so happy that my Dad has been able to see his family tree as my Uncle did theirs a few years ago too, and managed to go even further back in time 1500s!!!

I really enjoyed doing it, looking over certificates for names that sometimes proved to be missing links and the best bit was searching online censuses. What I aslo found to be surprisingly moving was to actually see the handwriting on certs, wills etc, that some of my family members wrote centuries ago, still pulls at my heart strings now just thinking about it.

How fantastic Flowers ..... fascinating and moving at the same time.  I love the bits of my history that others have put together, although I have not done any of it myself.

Morning peepsimage.  Half term over, so early morning service resumes to get littlest  Chicklet to the station.  Work have been very good at letting me work remotely, on things that have some flexibility around the deadlines, whilst I need to be around for OH.  Thinkthat will continue for at least another week whilst he is unable to drive ......then we shall see.

Hope Hostas bruises are less painful today - a really nasty place to fall on.

  • Good morning,

Good to hear work are being helpful Chicky, at least one level of stress removed and hope OH is feeling less tired now. image

Hosta, you have certainly put yourself through the mire. image

Gardening again for me today, starting to look at bit tidier out there now. OH was very helpful and held open the bags for me whilst I scooped up a mountain of leaves yesterday. image He really doesn't 'do' gardening. image

Have a nice day all, see you later. image
