Awake early, so taking the time to catch up. (4.45am). Sorry to hear about people with aches and pains as well as the joys of hospital casualty experiences. Unpleasant memories there!   I'm at a loss to think what we can do for the next few days. Friend was rather obsessed with standing on the verandah after spotting a brown snake sun baking near the red hot pokers and subsequently disappearing amongst them. He spent the rest of the day trying to spot the snake which of course wasn't planning on hanging around after being seen.  I knew I should have cut them back. Trouble this year was that I was sick,so that job got missed.  Too late now, I won't be scrambling around in there.image

Last night Hubby knocked himself out cooking. Made a very tasty vegetable frittata as well as a huge pot of vegetable risotto Followed by a lemon slice.  Everyone over-ate as usual. Plenty of leftovers for tonight though.  He was rather worn out by about 9.30pm, so we all had an early night - probably why I'm awake now.  He's very heavily asleep.image  Wouldn't mind being asleep myself.

ill catch up again when I can get a quiet moment.

Hope that pain starts easing soon Hosta - nasty fallimage

Bulbs did indeed get planted here, and summer pots got tidied too - all looking quite smart out there, just waiting for the next dump of leaves.  Mist never lifted all day here - but was kind of atmospheric.  Smell of woodsmoke from our burners hung around, and all felt cosily autumnalimageimageimage

Now its time for tea and walnut cakeimage

    Morning Pat.

Sure was Chicky, I've had to get a pillow to sit on. image

I hope Mr Chicky continues to improve , ditto Verdun's niece and last night A&E visitor.

Hosta, whatever did you do to yourself? Did I miss a bit of reading?  I wouldn't be surprised if I did. Don't you use chiropractic services. I don't hesitate to call my guy when something is out of line and he fixes it quickly. image

Pat , yesterday afternoon I stood on the manhole cover over the septic tank and it gave way. Mercifully I didn't end up IN the tank although the bottoms of my wellies did splash.

My fall was broken by the concrete surround and I landed very badly on my left buttock / thigh / coccyx.

In a monumental degree of pain I have to say.image

Plenty worse off than me to be sure.

the cover and its frame are now on the bottom . Just the concrete blocks left . The frame had rusted .

And there's a lot of me to stop falling. image

Ouch, Hosta, sounds painful and smelly.image

Daughter 2 and family have gone. We shall watch TV quietly tonight and eat the rest of the sausage rolls and pizza. Strictly results, canals and Downton.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to a meeting near Riberac. Tuesday we are off to Norfolk.

This evening I found some papers in a drawer in the study that my mother gave me. Family trees and written notes all about her family, mother and father. They all came from East Anglia, apart from a French Huguenot that one of them married. It was interesting, a great (maybe 2 greats) grandfather was Mayor of Norwich near the end of the 19th century.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
