Some heavy downpours late yesterday will have done the garden a world of good. We might not be having a belter of a summer, but we are not getting much rain here either ....think Scotland is having our share. This site has made me so much more aware of the different weather we all experience on this little island of ours. No wonder we Brits spend the whole time discussing it.
Got my Dad staying for the weekend .....so this evening's task is to get a room ready for him. I know there is a bed in there somewhere, but last time I looked I couldn't see it for general household junk.
Any signs of calving Frit, or is she keeping us waiting? The goats and horses always used to wait for a muggy night with high humidity - the sheep just popped them out
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Very unwelcome visitors in the night, I was woken by noise in the garden, went out and found a pair of Red Deer stags. We have always had them on the moors above the house, but in 25 years here they have never come this far down. I am worried.
Tree surgeon coming today, to reduce height of one of the Yew trees, which is starting to block a lot of light to one part of the garden.
Hope the calving goes well.
Hope everyone has a lovely day.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Morning - I won't add 'good' to that. Yet more rain....big sigh
Hello W'song .... HELLO W'SONG....are you awake yet?
doc - hope it was a one off with the deer, but....
chicky - we always have hit and miss summers at the best of times, but it's been particularly lousy this year. Just as well I'm at work more than normal !
Hope the little moo arrives soon Frit
Catch you all later. Have a good day everyone
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Morning, can just see the top of the hill but today was forecast as bright and sunny?!?
Frit glad you found the phone and we will wait to hear the moo news
Punc why on earth would the deer be coming down at this time of year? There must be plenty to eat on the hill? Good luck, you don't want them to make camp!!
Chicky, tell us what else you find!
Joe I don't think I have ever heard such a good description if the weather
Off to see neurologist this afternoon about pesky sciatica, which of course has settled the last few days!
have a good day

Helped daughter No 2 move house yesterday, took cold food for 2 days in cool boxes. Lots of sorting out to do today. SIL has fixed up the WiFi. It's a lovely house, big airy rooms, about 40 mins from Bordeaux
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Oooh Pdoc! Are they getting ready for the rut? When does that happen up your way? You don't want that happening in your garden .........
Were they big stags or relative youngsters?

Hiya Dove.
They were big stags, gave me a bit of a shock. To be honest I might have been happier if they were burglars.
