When i first left school and worked in nursery / garden centre in Scotland, Deer loved holly and roses more than anything else. I always thought that odd.
Ooh! Chinese water deer that sounds wonderful the neighbours think I'm dotty and look at me a little oddly think I'll mention them that will confirm their thoughts. As I said Dove wonderful .
It's three and a half rows deep so should do the main part of the winter. Interestingly the sweep told us last week that coal is much harder on the liner so we have decided just to burn wood this year and no coal
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
When I was a gardener ( as a job ) I used to stack logs for a client in his overhanging porch kinda thing. The trouble was it was glass at the back and cedar shingles to the side , other side and front were open, if you can imagine.
He didn't want to touch the shingles or glass, so it had to be totally self supporting and I used to take great pride in having the sides absolutely vertical.

Hosta - have a look here http://www.hedgehogstreet.org/ lots of info and also ways of making a feeding station that cats/rats don't like going into
Primrose - Muntjac are quite happy paddling around in water . The culprits could also be Chinese Water Deer https://www.norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/wildlife-in-norfolk/species-explorer/mammals/chinese-water-deer - they look superficially similar and are also on the increase in the UK. This might be helpful http://www.bds.org.uk/deer_in_your_garden.html
