Cor, Mrs G - what a fab idea!  Must remember that for next time I'm baking - drop the first attempt, then hide the evidence image

Just discovered there are going to be 5 series of Poldark in all...  imageimageimage

Hi all, thank you so much for advice on Shadow. Took him for a massive walk around a deserted and sheep free lake this morning and he came back exhausted. Sun came out this afternoon so I took him in the garden with me on his long lead and hooked him on a post by the veg patch whilst I put my veggies in from yesterday. He sat quite happily in the sun and dozed, watching whilst I worked. Seems much calmer today. A friend knows a dog trainer, going to talk to him tomorrow too. image  Bit too scared to go and approach the farmer yet, he was ready for shooting him yesterday. Think he will be happy if he never sees Shadow again, understandably of course. image

Going to go to another lake for an evening walk, has a lot of dog walkers there and is good practice for him getting used to other dogs, he will sit and stay as they pass so I do think there is hope for him with sheep yet, but with a lot of serious practice and training. image

Hosta hope your garden survives your break. image

Had a good afternoon out there once the rain cleared away.  Gladioli corms planted, few more plants found homes, some cuttings potted on and lots of pottering.....blissimage

Off to the cinema with Chicklet to see Far from the Madding Crowd tonight.

    Hi everyone image

Finished work for another week and now relaxing

Good luck with Shadow DD. Our previous dog was a black lab ,they are very smart but too obedient to automatically know the right thing to do, so some kind of training sounds perfect

Enjoy your weekend-ish break Hosta, I'm planning Sissinghurst this year if anyone's interested,  just don't know the best time to go, probably early and late summer, might also do Christopher Lloyd's garden, it's never much appealed to me but it's very nearimage

Ideal gardens to visit would be Hidcote and Kithsgate but they would involve a night away

Anyhow, it rained a gooden today which the garden drank heartily, like most of your gardens image can't wait to see the growth in coming week

    P. S  What's your issue Pdoc?  I've never noticed oneimage

Wintersong - Gt Dixter is wonderful - we went in late summer and it was amazing, the colour combinations were fabulous - and if you're at all interested in architecture, interior design/furniture etc, the house is worth a visit too  image

    Hello all,

The garden is growing before my eyes with the rain over the last two days.

I'm sorry to hear about shadow DD. I once was walking along a lane when suddenly round the corner some sheep had escaped from their field. My dog took off after them and followed them back into the field. I was terrified the farmer would see him and still sometimes have nightmares about it. Dogs think it's enormous  fun to chase things. They are not too far from wolves after all. Apparently that's why they get excited when they are about to go for a walk as they think they are going hunting with their pack.

I heard of a drastic way to stop a dog showing interest in sheep and that was to tie the dog to a ram. The poor dog was a bit battered but he never looked at sheep again.

Hope you find a solution,DD. It's so difficult to keep a dog from straying if he's determined.

Been in veggie garden, weeding and planting, may have said already. I have a cold and nose blowing with muddy gloves on isn't practical. Going to change and make a chicken stir fry.
