We had thunderstorms in the night, woke me up, so no watering here either.

No computer all afternoon as it was updating to windows 10  image

Been outside painting and grass cutting etc in the strange sunny, windy weather. Most peculiar!  After I'd watched Usain of course.  I totally agree with you doc. It would have been a travesty and it was damn tight. Felt very sorry for KJT . She's a real star for the future.  I cheered yesterday and today too Dove  image

Think W'song's on her early shifts just now. She'll be sleeping! I was wondering where archie is. He's usually on quite a bit too. image

Hosta - it's dreadful - chicky just missed being caught up in it yesterday when visiting. She and her family are all fine.

  • hi everyone im new here still trying to find my way around. Here in this part of east sussex we've had a very dry summer had to fill my water barrels 3 times from the tap and as we are now on a meter that was a tad worrying. i have 13 barrels but some take longer to fill than others as greenhouses are small. 6x8 . threw away some bedding plants I'd grown for late season colour as didn't want to have to keep watering as ground bone dry. we had a sprinkle of rain this morning but barely registered still had to water pots. Sun shining now and sky is blue.

Must find the seed swap thread again as will have Galtonia seed Astrantia and Agapanthus seed once they are ready.

Hi trishann - the seed swap thread is on the first page of the forum just now so you'll have no problem finding it. image

It's been a real game of two halves this summer - some people having the weather you have and others (like me!) having cold and wet. jo in Wales is having dreadful rain day after day just now. I'm sure she'll send you some if you ask nicely image

GWRS which bit of coast were you on?  We were on the Suffolk coast and the sea was as rough as I've ever seen it in the summer - and the waves were really noisy - Ma even asked what the noise was, and she's lived 100 yards from that beach for nearly 40 years!

What's for supper at your house?

We're having gammon steaks and buttery corn on the cob image

Dovefromabove , Lincolnshire , Mayblethorpe and yes the sea was rough , had a little walk on beach but with wind to our backs , as it was blowing the sand in you face

Still warm , short sleeved shirt and shorts was fine

o/h does her own oven chips with herbs sprinkled on them , chilly sausages , mushrums and toms

but the desert is rhubarb , rasberry and black currant crumble , these are no ordinary fruits , they are from the flavoured Vodka o/h had been experimenting with , had some yesterday, stunning desert

    cheers image

Lamb and roasties and green beans eaten. Now watching big blue live from Monterey. It's 15 years since we went there. We saw elephant seals near big sur, and the otters and sea lions near Monterey. Monterey bay aquarium is the ultimate aquarium.

For those of you planning a trip to the Eden project (got my eye on the 3 hairy plants for £12 offer but husband says we'll probably be back later in the week). For those thinking of taking children, the dinosaurs went down well (with young children anyway).

Dove, the Mediterranean cafe had a better selection today than the rainforest.

Not eating much this evening. The family were here for lunch, had BBQ pork in honey marinade, various salads, chips, then bread and cheese (French have cheese before pud) then lemon meringue pie that I made and chocolate mousse that daughter made.
