  • Hello again all - just attempting to post from my phone so I'm not at all sure anything will come out right!

Many thanks for all your encouragement and hugs, all very much appreciated. And yes, I am indeed looking forward to a stress-free fortnight slapping paint about in the holiday cottage. ???

I've just included an Android smiley. Wonder how it'll appear on the post?

OH is snoring in the armchair so I'd better wake him so he can go to bed!

    Night all.

  • Ah. The smiley turned into 3 question marks - not quite what I had in mind...

Been watching Downton and the Strictly results with OH's daughter and SIL. I love Downton. It's beautifully presented with a great cast and all the characters are so human whether upstairs or downstairs. It's not all about snobbism and looking down on the servants. It's fictional history and interesting to see that part of life in the past and how it changes and goes through the war and afterwards. There is selfishness but also a lot of sympathy and kindness.

I didn't see Countryfile but the Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis is one of my favourite pieces and brings back memories of my first OH.

Escapism Verd.  It's not my thing either, despite Brideshead Revisited being my all time favourite book and piece of TV. That had a lot to do with the writing, production, acting and the faithful adaptation of the book, as much as anything else though. It's also a study of class, privilege and all that goes with it   image

Mine too Fairy, watch it every time it's on, love the book as well.
