    well hello there!

feeling a little sheepish as I've not been around for most of the winter, bet I'm already forgotten! image

Love the panda jumper, and belated birthday wishes to Kef - that's about all I've caught up on, sorry.

Ive hardly been in the garden since September, not managing to get everything ready for autumn and overwinter things.

had a knock at the door today from a couple of men offering tree service, unusually for me I said yes and am pleased I did as they did a fairly good job, but mainly it meant I got out there. And loved it!

I Chopped, raked and tidied - as they gave 5 conifers a what for, a good tidy of the 2 apples ( I don't mind loosing the fruit), and best of all got rid of the huge poplar tree remains ( it died and fell probably 18 months ago).

Will put some photos on tomorrow so you can advise on their work - apples look ok but not sure techniques were correct - no thinning out, shaped outsides only, didn't seem to concentrate on removing the middle branch of a group ( not that I especially know about this but it's somewhere in my memory...)

Hoping you are all well and looking forward to spring!

  • Hi Mrs G ! image, good to "see" you, i think a lot of us have felt like that over the winter, i dissapered for a bit too, maybe we are all still more in tune with the seasons than we think! Glad youve had a good day in the garden image

PD - had a quick look back - did you really have snow today? Or are you not home / moved house? I've seen nothing but sunshine today and I'm not far from you but I do know what deception distance can make!

verdun and PD - lots of car talk but haven't got to the nitty gritty of what it's about! I feel compelled to add my car experiences for you - new car arrived last night, current car sold and driven away this morning. cash paid into bank this afternoon. Loved, loved, loved my car and was sad to see it go, the new one is not as loved but a 'better' car and a good deal was had!

Its been like christmas here today. A big parcel of raspberry canes, another parcel with a couple of hundred bulbs in, and a pot chicken on a basket  I bought for my egg lady.  I potted up the eucomis and crocosmias, ready to plant out later.  Double freesias for mum. Gladioli to go in between broad beans.  Too cold to plant out raspberries so i did the potting in the greenhouse and came back in.

I'll put my thermals on  tomorrow, and plant the raspberries.image

You can keep the snow up there, I don't want it.

The mini polytunnel I bought last March has holes all over it. I phoned the manufacturer and they said it should last two full seasons. Well it didnt. Mind you, no quibbles, they  are going to send a new cover. I suspect by the speed that they gave in, its a common problem. Only problem is , they are out of stock until march.image

Hi Mrs G, good to se you back.

Yes we really had snow, and hail, and rain, and some sunshine, oh and it was also windy and freezing cold.

Planted out some more Box blobs, to add a bit more structure, to some of my "looser" planting.

Seeds starting to germinate indoors, which as always is a thrill I hope I never get tired of.
