Crinkle-free and shopping for Clematisimage even though I already have eight to plant in springimage

Where do you get your clematis from, Wintersong?. I had some cheap ones(old varieties ) from Morrisons last year£2 apiece, but I have been tempted by some of Raymond Evisons new varieties. There is a garden centre near here that has some display pyramids in big pots of his, but they had sold out of the varieties I fancied most.

Blue sky and breezy here. Bed stripped and sheets being washed. I'm thinking of getting some broad beans in, starting them off in pots in next doors conservatory, which is mouse free, unlike my greenhouse.

Oh no not a German Shepherd they said. It'll be all big and scary and aggressive they said. Control the house and scare visitors are they said...

He was just woken up by the post being pushed through the door and landing on him.

What a wonderful protector; how safe I must feel! image

Fidget, i found diluted effervesent (?)vitamin tablets kept bean fly at bay last year, i wonder if it would work with mice? image
  • Quick hello whilst eating lunch, simple brie & lettuce sandwich today, am cooking big evening meal for a change, not sure Charlie is getting enough veggies at school & usually he just gets a snack at tea time as he does have a four course lunch at school, just conscious after him being ill that he might need a healthy boost, fridge full of carrots, broccoli & leeks (some carrots for horse too). Luckily he does like his veg. image

Been to monthly coffee morning this morning, all very sociable but the weather has taken a turn for the worse, definitely no sign of promised sun.image

BL has had to cancel, quirky, I set off in car to coffee morning and after 5 mins on the road seeing how bad it was stopped and phoned OH to ring BL for me & tell her to cancel, "No", he said "I won't". Somewhat surprised I said don't worry she won't bite and then he laughed and said "I won't because I have just come off the phone with her" - she had called me to cancel - very wise. Still made carrot cake, have to test recipe for next time. image See you very soon BL. image

The lady I went to see at coffee morning imparticular wasn't there. Poor woman has had a bad fall (slipped on ice) and broken her arm, nasty break apparently. She lives on her own, bit off the beaten track too so I am going to go & visit tomorrow with cake, (maybe lemon drizzle tomorrow). She has been staying with her daughter but seems she was determined to go home, ready or not, can completely empathise, no place like home. image She loves dogs so taking Shadow, just hope he doesn't get his heart set on the cake. image

Right, think Shadow is also giving me 'evils' for a walk! Pop back later. I expect Reggie will be expecting similar too Clari - so pleased he passed his check up. image

How bizarre that my earlier post is spamming itself?image

I've bought most varieties from my not so local GC Fidgetbones although it's gone downhill since first opening back in the naughties.

The only Raymond Evison I have is Josephine image which I adore. I will check new varieties, its always been splendid and healthyimage

My list to plant include Miss Bateman (large) Brunette x2 (just because i loved that oneimage) Margaret Hunt, Wesselton and pope john II and nun's gift so far.

I really need something to soften my Paul scarlet rose in cream or green. I also have 3 cuttings hanging about sans labels image

  • Theres always a free clematis offer during the year with one or another magazine, keep your eye out for it image ...what an odd saying!
  • Wish i hadnt brought clematis armandii, its too much of a thug, i ended up having to cut it all to the ground last year, it was heart breaking!
