Have just sat down after tidying the front garden and planting the rest of the pansies along with some Pheasants Eye and a load of Hyacinth bulbs.
My deliver of 60 tulips came from Sarah Raven this morning so I'll hang to them until next month before planting. Seeds also arrived from Chiltern. Lysimachia atropurpurea 'Beaujolais', Ammi majus, Briza media and Cleome Spinosa 'White Queen'. Have no idea when to sow any of them so I guess I had better do a little bit of research.
Hi Lily, I could send the contact details for my torturer, still aching today but getting a bit better. I'm sure there will a member of her coven in your area.
Chucked it down all morning but lovely here now. Supposed to get more rain later but no sign of any clouds just yet. Thanks for the cake GG it was lovely.
Hi folks, have popped back in here after being AWOL for a good while.
We & 2 big coldframes, 150 assorted pots, contents of a shed & greenhouse etc etc moved house in April!
Just about coming to terms with a sunny & windy spot after a part shade garden for 30yrs. Soil is neglected here, but am working on that. Greenhouse base now finished & G/h arrives soon!
Rural net speed, or lack of it, driving me up the wall, so posting isnt always easy! Have recognised a few people around here, lots to catch up, J.
I got in just in time - thanks Ggirl - having a cuppa with a slice now. Looks terrific - it's a shame to eat nice cakes though isn't it?
Nice to see you again jo- hope all goes well with the new garden. Good timing - get your bearings and then all winter to plan everything.... Nice to have a different set of challenges too.
Big heavy shower came on, but I've got my pond plants in and there's a bit more gravel in a bucket getting nicely washed to finish off the planting in the purpose built area at the edge.
Yvie - I managed to ignore all the bulbs at the GC yesterday and this morning. Think I deserve another slice of cake for that
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
We moved in April! So have already been busy.... New place on a windy hillside with sun, awfully over worked, never improved, soil & even a soggy bottom! Bit of a change from dry soil & part shade. I did leave the soil in good nick though & miss that. Oh yes forgot- the contents of a compost bin came with us too!
I'll be virtuous & pass on the cake! My version of WW is doing ok, so far, but am easily tempted! Am off out soon for a firework display & fish & chip supper. OH bakes a weekly cake too. He takes some into work for folks so I do get a 'treat' quite often.

Looks great Gg.
I now have 3x buddleias of 7ft instead of twice as high.
Not what I had planned in the garden but glad it's done, just the shredding to look forward to now
.
Wish I'd had time for grass cutting last week, far too wet now!
Some of the jungle a bit more presentable, but I'm not good at this time of year, don't like cutting back.
Off to tree thread to put down my 'final' decision

Hi jo
you've arrived in time for cake
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Off now to get some soup before we set out, J.
