OL - We've an ornamental cherry tree in the garden that is currently home to a huge amount of blackbirds feasting - its wonderful to watch but their having to "lighten the load" before they take off is causing quite the mess on the greenhouse roof.  image

Wonderful to watch though there will still be plenty of fruit for us as the definitely a pear tree" is most certainly producing a good crop of plums!

I'll be building a fruit cage when the vegetable plot is done (I'm already collecting cheap bushes ready to go in!) As we have a huge amount of birds visit us I can see them harvesting everything the moment it appears. I'm going to put some more fruit bushes around the outside of chicken run to "sacrifice" (and hopefully put off the neighbours cat from spending too much time chicken watching as well as providing a bit of shade).

Something that only you'll appreciate - after almost running over the hedgehog on the drive on Thursday night we have discovered that he has taken to protesting by emptying himself all over the lawn - hedge poo everywhere! Its strangely exciting to find and now I'm in search of a nice hedgehog house to put by the compost bins as that area isn't disturbed much.
